No way is he our worst manager of all time.  Turner, McNeil, mcleish, Docherty, Garde.

Bruce spouting absolute dribble in his press conference. We didn't deserve to be beaten against Reading?  Desperation stakes. We were dreadful and he's sounding like the stress is getting to him.

Bingo is the worst, partly because he had little interest in us as he was just using us to kill time before taking over at Celtic. Turner was way out of his depth, although he did have to deal with Ellis wanting as much as possible of 80-82 erased and also had to deal with the Shaw injury as well as Sid coming back from a bad injury and then being sold. As for Garde, he probably had the worst deal any Villa manager has had, he was still crap as our manager and is still unemployed since he left us.

And what puts Bruce into the reckoning for me is we're playing some of the worst football i've ever seen Villa regularly play, and he's doing it against some of the worst teams i've ever seen Villa regularly play.

Could we have a fresh thread and a poll? Pick your worst manager ever?

I am calling it first that the Vassell fella will score in at least one of the games against us.

I bear no grudge against Garde whatsoever, he was treated very badly by the club at that time.

Bouc emissaire!

I've just been brave enough to watch the highlights - it was like defence against attack

I've softened slightly since Tuesday and do think we should give him the next three games till the international break. In part because I'm just not sure we could get anyone better at this point in the season anyway

It would be too early to consider we were bossing the league. It would be nice, but not massively important. The same way the start isnt acceptable, the fact we're 23rd after three games is neither here nor there.

The fact we're 23rd means we have eight points fewer than some teams, which if we're allegedly going to be competing with them could be rather important.

I'm not going to be convinced being 1st, 23rd or where ever after 3 games is of any consequence. There are 43 games to go.

We know what we need and at the moment we have to hope this very small sample of 3 games is short term form or the manager will go and we will suffer for it.

23rd may not be here or there if we were there having played well, but suffered bad luck or a hiccup on an otherwise upward or improving trajectory based on good tactics, team spirit and attacking football.   However we can all see that this is the culmination of many months of muddled thinking, non-existent game-management, dour approaches to games and abject failure to motivate the players, even the ones he's signed.   Don't judge me after 1 week" he says.  We aren't you fuckwit, we're judging you after 10 months of dross and lack of progress.  "one win changes everything" he says.  No it fucking doesn't you idiot.  It doesn't suddenly make you a tactical genius, or even vaguely competent.  It doesn't mean our players can suddenly control possession or are actually fit enough to compete.  Or that they can pass and move and actually control a football.  It doesn't mean we can suddenly take a throw in and retain possession.   It more likely means he managed to fluke a win against some equally incompetent dinosaur.

Garde was not awful. He is not remotely as bad as Graham Turner or Billy McNeill.  I doubt you saw either of them.

He was abysmal.

If this run continues beyond tomorrow, we are in serious shit. We will need to win 7-8 of every 10 to guarantee promotion or 6-7 of every 10 to make the playoffs.
