I'm sure Newcastle fans were fuming like we were at this point last season they lost their first 2 games including a defeat at home to Huddersfield, that was before people realised that Huddersfield weren't there to make up the numbers. They then went 5 wins in a row - let's stay positive, we won at Reading last season hopefully this will be the game that kick starts our season. Norwich at home on Saturday, they're like a courtesy bus that turns up to give you a lift at this stage of the season.

I've no doubt they were unhappy after those first 2 games, difference is they weren't seeing the same things from most of the previous 35 games under the manager at this level as well. I'd love us to go on a tear like Newcastle did, I just struggle to see us doing it under Bruce.

When he is actually binned his first sentence will be: ' I just didn't realise how bad things were'.  Yes Steve, they were bad and you were employed to make them better, not worse!

Bye bye.

The second sentence will definitely have a reference to how hard it was for him being an ex-manager of Birmingham City.

'It's been a horrible one'  Referring to his experience will also feature.

I should just point out that when RDM was sacked we all said that the next appointment was the most important in the clubs history.  I assume the next one will be the most most importantest?

Apologies if already posted this is a good article from his time as Sunderland ..same issues remain
-Inability to change tactics during a game
- Too many signings
-Blaming fans for high expectations

You know through all the debate, all the analysis of his team selections and game plans (yeah right) I just cannot move away from that article - in my mind it damned him before he arrived and the author some years on could right the exact same piece just changing the players names today.

This guy is NOT GOING TO CHANGE his footballing philosophy not matter what we or anyone else says.

Dr Tony - he has to go now while we still have a chance - every game from now on is a game wasted

I genuinely think the players would have more idea picking the team themselves than him

If we do replace Bruce i'd say it will be a massively important appointment. If we are still in this division next season we could be in deep trouble. Next year will be the last season of parachute payments, and it's a lot lower, and we'll still have FFP issues.

It's not altogether about the money though, it's getting someone in that can get this lot performing, maybe just having to add a couple of attacking midfielders to the mix.

It is next season. That's my point, we need someone who can take us up this season as next season our wage bill will kill us. We go from around £33m (I think) this season down to £14m next year in parachute payments. To put it into context we got £6.9m in prize money last season and half a million for our 16 live games.

The thing that has stuck with me recently was someone on here talking about a Hull fan's comments when we signed Elmohamady.  They said that at Hull, everything was hit in the direction of Elmohamady for him to challenge in the air.  In the two games I have seen him play for us, every goal kick and free kick in our half has gone in his direction, but in true recent Villa style, we have bought in a goalkeeper who can't kick that well and a lot of his kicks end up going in the direction of Hogan instead.

If we don't go up this year then Chester and Kodjia will 100% be sold.

We will be building teams to stay at this level as the money gap between newly relegated teams will be to massive to bridge.

Don't worry. Wyness is a football man and knows what he's doing.
