For Allardyce read Bruce pre AVFC.

He is not for us, we need someone young and dynamic. I have no idea who though.

If he has a promotion record 'second to none' can we not hire this 'None' bloke? Go for the best next time.

On what went wrong…

Everything - apart from the first 20 minutes where I didn’t think there was anything in it.

The first goal, we made a poor mistake and after that it was, I have to say, on the edge of embarrassment, if I being brutally honest.

So it is a rude awakening to us, very, very early again.

That’s the biggest ‘doing’ I think I can remember having in the Championship.

We simply didn’t do enough of the basics.

Once Elmohamady went off we looked fragile every time they broke on us.

I don’t know how many times my goalkeeper pulled us out of mire.

It was a wake-up call to everyone concerned, especially away from home.

It was a difficult afternoon.

HoganPostmatchReportMainWebOn poor results away from home...

It is still there, that’s plainly obvious, and we have to do more.

Because we are Aston Villa we go with the favourites tag, we go with the full crowd.

One thing we have to do away from home is get ready for what is coming, especially when you come here.

It made for a really difficult afternoon for us where we didn’t do enough of the basics.

We were wide open, which is not like us, and of course we’ve had two really great chances at 0-0 and we didn’t take them.

But that was that long ago and overall we were well beaten and we have to accept that.

On how the performance ranks in his managerial career…

It is certainly one of biggest defeats I’ve had in Championship over the years.

You can get beaten like that in the Premier League.

But I have to say we lost all our shape, our discipline, our balance and that is hard to come by when all we’ve worked on is that over the last three or four weeks.

But we’ll go back to work tomorrow and get ready for another game Tuesday.

SB, a more naive, dinosaur of a manager you could ever find in any of the four divisions of English football,
has to go now!
But, is the fella that appointed him going to admit he fucked up?
Who goes? SB or Dr X ,You decide. That could be the root of the problem, as in which charlatan turns up next.
Dr X out.

Dean Smith lost 2/2.

He plays good football but he's a streaky manager...

If he can save our bacon, why not?

As I've just posted on post game thread, it wont have much benefit , so pointless. To win games you need strikers capable of scoring high percentages of chances. We've only 1. Although board, owner, Mgr etc may contribute to this, changing any of those won't make things better as we still would have only 1 scorer. Get another striker , don't get shot of Bruce.......yet

Which of McCormack, Hogan and Kodjia are you saying is that one scorer?
As you are well in tune with all things Villa DAVE, I guess that's a sarcastic question. But in case not....Kodja is only 1 I've seen score pretty regularly when available. We are v
Currently in same mode as when he was at African cup , without similar back up quality that can score in Villa shirt

But the point is Hogan and McCormack had good goal scoring records before they came to Villa park.  Another striker will be just the same.

It's about making chances, not getting a striker to take them.

Xia didn't appoint Bruce. Wyness did. If memory serves, Xia was away on business and was not directly involved in the selection.

.

Would be a bit rash in my view.  Maybe go a Danish manager - Laudrup?

Allardyce looks like a decent shout. Prepares thoroughly, has his players understand what they're supposed to be doing, gets results. Would he want it, though?
Would we, really? How many times can we keep starting again as per last few years?

At least one more time evidently. I mean Bruce is going backwards here.

I'd rather see Bruce win the next three and get some momentum going before some of our badly-missed injured players come back. That's what I think he'll need to keep his job.

I can't see it happening, so it looks like his departure will be inevitable, whether I'd prefer continuity or not. He looks like a dead man walking.

Wyness and Bruce can both eff off back to the Algarve in that case.
