The obvious thing to me if Bruce wants an option but does not want to set his team up from the start with a big target man is to go to Europe and take a chance on a young and raw player that could be the next Benteke. At a low fee the risks would be low and the expectations not great.

It's fine suggesting we need to bring a target man in, so long as the manager plays to his strengths. Will Bruce do that? Hogan, Lansbury and Hourihane might have something to say about that. We had Gestede, definitely not a premier league player, but proven in the championship. Did Bruce play to his strengths in the
time he had him? We could be going round in circles here if the manager doesn't know how to fit the players he buys into a system and team that can challenge.

My comment was about having an option as he showed he wanted on Saturday by bringing Samba on. A Plan B or C for when other ways are not working.

The play-offs is a lottery and knowing our luck, we'd be unsuccessful.  In my view if we're not in the mix after 6 games, then Bruce should be fearing his position. 10/11 games is too late to make a change if we want automatic promotion. Looking at the stats above we need 8 or more points after 6 games, and 18 or more points after 10 games to stand any chance based on last year's standings. Currently we are on our average for last season! Over to you Bruce!
