Perhaps it could be that Wyness looks like a gone to seed all in wrestler wearing charity shop clothes.

Keitho Nagasaki perhaps ?

I was thinking more former darts legend Leighton Rees.
Fred Gee for me.

If we get in another striker before the transfer window shuts then I'm pretty confident we will make the play-offs at least.  As for Bruce? My position is see where we are at the half way point.  If we are struggling in mid-table then I can see the argument for a change.  But if we are in the chasing pack, then he deserves to see out the season.

I was thinking more the panting Roy Kinnear's older brother.

The problem with a change mid-season is that we end up scraping the bottom of the managerial barrel. It's the biggest and most important job in the club so recruitment should be always to find the very best replacement. December or January is never the best time. It's summer or never, not that I can't see a temp coming in to finish off the season, should we so need.

Hopefully it won't come to that but Bruce and his backroom team need to raise their game.

The other thing to bear in mind is that the Aston Villa job with 2/3rds of the season remaining and a theoretical chance of still making the play-offs (or better) is still an attractive option.

Aston Villa miles off the pace in January and the likelihood of a fire sale in the summer - not so much.

he's now talking about converting Samba into a striker. He's lost it, big time.

Don't go chasing a dream like last season.  If the right manager is not available, wait and start rebuilding the right way in the remainder of the season.  I am fed up with short-term solutions.

Agree with that, however our biggest problem is that time is what we dont have, parachute money is only 13m next season. If we fuck it up this season heaven help us

Has he actually said that seriously...or was it more of a tongue in cheek joke after his highly comical and desperate tactic at the weekend?

What I saw was him saying Samba is a decent option when you're chasing a game so will probably be used again as a late sub, I haven't seen him mention turning him into the next Chris Sutton though.

He hasn't said that at all though.

Of course he hasn't said that about Samba.  Converting Chris Samba into a centre forward and telling us he was going to do it would be well out of character.  As far as we are concerned Bruce goes onto managerial auto pilot.  We get football speak generalisations about being nowhere near where we should be and Achilles's heels and Gabby being in a good place.  I know a better one.

As a last 5 minute throw of a dice getting Samba up front is fine, what is wrong is that we don't have a senior striker with a physical presence in the squad.  You look at the top two last season and Brighton had Murray & Newcastle had Murphy mainly on the bench.  Others near the top, Reading had Mendes, Wednesday had Fletcher etc.
