Has anyone figured out yet why Bruce signed Hourihane, Lansbury, Bree, Bjarnasson and Hogan in January and what his plans were for them?

All managers make duff signings, or players that end up not fitting in, but to make a whole transfer window of it is quite something.  Yet sadly it's not the first time it's happened at Villa e.g. the Sherwood close season and the RDM close season.

Not good is it? Hourihane in particular looked very good before joining us. But Glenn 'grenade feet' Whelan is more Bruce's speed in the midfield, and Christ knows we have to play Bacuna for some reason, so out he goes.

So out he doesn't.

I believe it takes more of a manager to recognise maybe someone may not be quite right / ready / fit etc than blindly play them regardless just because "he's one of mine".

And using Bacuna as a scapegoat excuse because he was part of a toxic / terrible era is pure laziness and poor.

100% serious ........ afraid he is out the dark ages ........ lets look at his signings ......
Hogan - should be ok but has no support
Lansbury - no pace
Bree - what was the point
Taylor - good signing
Bjansson - any point?
Hoolarane - Why sign him and not play him

Wont comment on this years signings yet but major reservations based on yesterday except Terry

We can say he will get it right but how much better did we end up last season and this season is critical

Explain what Bacuna brings to the team ...he is living off two free kicks in his first few games

You won't comment on this year's signings yet... because they need a chance to settle and maybe show what they can do?

What was the point in giving the manager the pre-season to sack him after one draw where we didn't actually play football from the dark ages and when you're not yet prepared to judge the players.

Presumably Wednesday will be sacking their manager. And Derby. And Fulham.

Bruce's post game comments were pathetic. Bigging up Villa for matching a club just out of the premier league. Hull won't be anywhere near getting promoted this season.

They'll be lucky to stay up. I was expecting Hull to be poor yesterday but bloody hell, that first half they were shockingly bad. Absolutely clueless. I was struggling to think of a worse side I'd seen at Villa Park. It really was three easy points dropped.

No, because none of those teams under achieved under their current manager for most of last season.

Ads, stop being so logical and full of rational ideas, this dark idealogical thoughts will have you hanged for treason.

So Bacuna cost us the 3 points LV?

And none of them had a change of manager 3 months into the season and inherited the 3rd worst squad in the history of the premier league, easily the most toxic.

There was no point he should have been gone after last season

Stop using the same excuses, yesterday was the same as when he took over in most ways but from a squad with 11 new signings and the 'toxic' squad members that are left are largely ones he's choosing to pick over players he's signed.  When he took over it wasn't fair to judge him until he'd made signings, then it wasn't fair to judge them until pre-season, then when pre-season wasn't very good it didn't matter because we'd be better in the proper games and now we're making the same mistakes but it's only 1 game in.  I don't want him sacked now and I haven't suggested he should be but I'm fed up of people making excuses for him, he's an experienced manager who's been in the game for 35-40 years, he doesn't need protection from people pointing out his mistakes on the internet but he does need to understand that he's making them.

To reiterate, I thought we started well but when they got on top he didn't have any idea what to do about it and everyone knew they were going to get back into the game whilst he stood looking confused as to how the same 11 were suddenly not on top any more.  Onomah for Lansbury or Bacuna and Green for Gabby on about 55-60 were the subs he needed to make because those 3 were having no effect on the game after about 40 minutes.
