Yes Bruce has stabilised us as a lower half 2nd Division team.

Let's see how we feel in October.  I hope we are all feeling much more pro Bruce but I have followed Villa for too long not to know you don't have to build your hopes up.  I still stick to promotion in 3 -5 years (next year being year 2) with or without Steve Bruce.

I agree. I said before that I think this year was just one of consolidation, next season one of pushing forward and looking closer to a team that can challenge, and then year 3 being the first season we are genuine promotion contenders. The same as you can only gurgle around relegation for so long, you can only circle around the top for so long before its your turn. 3-5 sounds about right.

Personally, I'm glad we're not sacking another manager and going through all the upheaval that comes with it, the new search for a new assistant manager, new backroom staff and the manager wanting to bring in his own players etc. I'm happy to see what a bit of continuity and a settled squad might bring.

Sacking managers has seen us get progressively worse, despite his shortcomings we need to give him some time to do the job.

There Is zero evidence that sticking with failing managers works.

Sticking with the wrong manager for too long has seen us get progressively worse.

The only manager who should have gone before he did in recent times was Lambert. Bruce has only been here since October. I think he deserves a pre-season and a chance to get us up rather than the sack.

Two thirds of a season is too short a period to state that he is failing.

The club have made the right call in sticking with him.

Two thirds of a season with eye damaging football,  zero tactical nouse and the skill reduction pattern of new signings ...is all I need to know.  Next season is going to be turgid.

Wyness has given Bruce his backing, I guess that Tony has given the manager his confidence. Stability is the name of the game imho, build on what we have achieved this season (whatever you believe - he has stopped the rot) onwards and upwards. We will get promoted next season, with Bruce in charge, I am confident of that.
Yes and Labour will win the election.

So, if his man management and motivation are so good, why are we failing on the pitch with, arguably, some of the best players in the division.

You can say all the right things but it is the performances that reflect if you are a decent manager (give that a few things are beyond your control).

I don't think there will ever be a consensus on here re Bruce. I for one am sick of continually changing managers but accept that his football as seen so far with my own eyes (Blues, Ipswich, Wolves in 2017 alone come to mind) is uninspiring at best. However, it's a results business first and foremost so let's see if he produces them on a regular enough basis next season to get us up. Then we can think again about what's best for the Premier League.

Get us up you potato, and earn your money. If he gets us up, he deserves the chance to carry on. That's how I see it. I don't like him, but who are we going to get? The guy at Fulham?
