Johnstone got better as the season went on I thought. He made a shaky start but seemed to settle down after a while. I'm happy to have him back next season.

Yeah, I've no problem with Johnstone staying. I'd sign him if possible.

He's been perfectly competent as a mid-table second division keeper, but he's about as likely to find himself in an England squad in the near future as Steve Bruce is.

Agreed.  Why can we not stop arsing around with the goalkeeper position and sign a proven one.  Why not Robert Green for example?

Because he's about 47 years old?

No travel costs with Green though as he's got a free bus pass.

You mean a bit like Ryan Mason?

Johnstone is better than Stockdale. Everytime I've seen them play he's been chucking it in his own net.

I think Stockdale is massively overrated aswell, no way is he the best keeper in this league as voted for in the PFA team.

I'd still probably take McGregor from Hull tbh, he did well on loan at Cardiff second half of the season.

What should give everybody hope is how universally diabolical this league is. I started watching it on Sky in the year of the Doom, in preparation for what was to come. I thought it was poor then, but seeing it week in week out, it's mind bendingly poor.
Last season Reading finished 17th, Huddersfield 19th and Fulham 20th.
This league is not like the PL with the predictability of final placings. If we are not in the top 6 after 10 games Bruce is in trouble, however if we hit the ground running we can stay in the the top 2 or 3 all season. This division is wide open.
