If they defend like that in the Premiership with a bit of luck we will be taking their place this time next year.

Dr T tweeted this morning. In summary he says he's received lots of advice from fans on players, managers and tactics but he says we need stability and it's all about teamwork.

Strongest indication yet that Bruce is here to stay.

17/18= another wasted season.

Ho hum.

I'd imagine he said similar things last summer and we all know what happened 12 weeks into the season. First and foremost he's a businessman who wants a return on his asset - there's nosuch thing as a free ride in business and unless Brucie is delivering he'll go the same way as RDM and all the others.

Writing a season off a few days after the last one ended is quite spectacularly stupid.

I think the post season meeting between Bruce, Round and Wyness that is happening any time now will be dominated (or should be dominated) by keeping the owner happy.  With this squad and this manager and these coaches the realistic odds are that we will, one way or another, bludgeon, batter or bore our way back into the Premiership in a year or two.  If Tony Xia decides he has had enough wasting of his money and bales out all bets are off.  The asset strippers are like sharks.  They can smell blood at ten thousand miles.  The only real luck we have had in the last six years is to get an owner as good as the one we have.

Who the fuck is writing off a season? What I said was that he, i.e., Dr X won't over indulge anyone, as he didn't with RDM. FFS.

Considering your previous attempts at predictions I would have thought you'd be a bit more hesitant in having a go at others.

You're talking like I've knocked your flagon over in the Prancing Pony. Needless to say, I was addressing the post who was writing off next season.

I am prepared to be won over regarding next season.  Of the teams in the play offs, three out of four of them finished either in 13th or below that last season so it is doable with the right manager and recruitment.

I heard today that Fulham had the best form since November in the division, not sure how true this is. But the same guy took Watford up, plays great football, wonder what he could do with our squad compared to SB.

I think it's unwise to make any sort of prediction for next year just yet never mind writing off the season but I can understand people not being convinced with Bruce.
And I think believing we'd walk the league this year was much more stupid.

Ah so you agreed with me, but just wanted to have a pop. Next time just say what you think.

I made my point to the litany of snide remarks that used to follow me around this forum, but I'll repeat it for your benefit. I didn't think we'd walk the league; I hoped we would, even more so as I found everything about the club and this board so utterly depressing that I could not stand any more of the corrosive negativity. I wanted it to happen and willed it too. We were so out of the winning habit and had been for half a decade that I feared at the worst we'd be like a falling lift, which is exactly how I felt on 1st October pounding the pavements of a Preston shite heap back to the car, worst fears being realised.

I share the view espoused by Saunders Heroes looking at next season; I'm hopeful.
