I'd say starting off 19th and finishing 19th demonstrates no change at all.

Why do you keep banging on about Huddersfield?  It's a completely different set of circumstances, and you've already said you know nothing about the season in question for them.  Perhaps the directors saw an improvement in performances despite results, or maybe there were other mitigating factors like a ruck of injuries, who knows?

Or may be for a typical third division club just staying in Championship by finishing 19th was an improvement.

I suppose it would be interesting to see what kind of support from the fans Wagner had this time last year.

Somebody else made the point that three quarters of the play off sides this season were awful last in the context of others saying we have no chance of closing the gap next year.  I think it's fairly self evident why I making a comparison.

Supposed progressive Wagnar didn't push them on having replaced a useless incumbent, yet was given a further window and a pre season and it seems to have worked. It's others who are making baseless assertions of an evidence of style, despite not having seen a single minute of them play last term.

the fear of ending up with another failing manager shouldn't stop us getting rid of the one we've  already got

Even if we just base our theory on , keep changing the Manager, eventually we will pick a good one. I agree with you by the way.

yep, you should never accept second best or put up with failure on the basis you might fail again
every management change is a risk a gamble even the championship specialist was a risk that has failed massively

every manager we have had over the last few years has just lowered the bar until now we are told we should be happy even grateful to have Steve Bruce
Steve Bruce isnt going to work at Villa, anyone who really wants to look with open eyes can see that
if that means we have to roll the dice again then so be it, because putting up with this torture of a management system is an even worse  alternative

It may also be a good time to make that change, his style of play is awful, he is outdated in his tactics and style, but he may have been able to install the start of a professional attitude within the club, that has been so sadly missing for years, apart from the Fat gate man farce, there has been a distinct lack of the hopeless attitude episodes that has prevailed for years at B6.
This puts the emphasis on Wyness and his team to look out there for someone who can add to that professional attitude, whilst installing a style onto the club, silly things like tactics, passing and movement, set pieces that offer something that sort of thing.

I think my concern is that we've seen no obvious improvement in performances. If we want to go up we need to dominate games, we're nowhere near that. Bruce doesn't even seem to know how to use players he's signed.

As much as I've been massively frustrated with Bruce I still think he will be the right person for the job to get us up. However I just don't think he'll be at the club long into stage 2 or whatever Wyness called it when he referenced creating 3 teams. The club will move to someone more progressive but right now, the only foreseeable goal for the upcoming season is getting out of this league.

I'm not convinced by the "mole removal" story. Since when does it leave you with a black eye? And why can't you see a mole on his face in older pics? Not convinced by the rumour about a fight with one of the players either so smeg knows.

Was thinking the same. Had someone I know here who had a major eye injury getting the blade of a hockey stick in the eye. The surgery was serious and yet he came out of it barely knowing it happened. Yet Bruce has 2 moles removed and looks like he took on McGregor. Mind you we are assuming they were moles as in spots. It could have been actual moles. Like the animal type. I imagine they'd put up quite a fight on the way out
