"Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce:
That's arguably the worst we've played since I've been here, but a big club like ours, away from home, four wins all season, is nowhere near good enough to where we should be.

"Too many times I've seen us play the way we did today, where we haven't done enough in every department.

"We were absolutely hopeless. Hopeless. And unfortunately away from home I've seen that too many times. Not good enough and I've been here the best part of six months and too many times I've come away like that and thought, 'Dear oh dear, that was inept'."

Resigning would be a start.

The players are on the beach. Not the right time to judge as we're certainly not the only team going through the motions.

So they have had quite a few holidays then this season.

Mainly weekend breaks.

It seems to be one long holiday. Absolute garbage from start to finish this season, even when we win games. So much spent for so little progress. I don't trust any of the coaching staff to improve any of the players. I hope Dr X at least looks  at who might be available, Manager wise,  because Bruce spending more money on 4 quality players, when they seem to go backwards once the hit the training ground at BMH is just gonna be another waste.

There is absolutly zero chance of Bruce leaving this club over the Summer.

He has a massive job on his hands though, he'll get till October and if were not in the top 6 Atleast he'll be in serious trouble then.

I'm comfortable with that.

Bruce needs to play to the players strengths. For instance Lansbury and Hourihane are attacking centre mids, so fucking play them in that role.

The problem with that is that in October its virtually impossible to attract a manager already in a job elsewhere. In the summer you may have a chance (however slim) of enticing a Howe, Wagner, Jokanovic type.

There's always candidates available in October these days such is the fickle nature of football, see Steve Bruce last October.

On the wider point, IMO this club hasn't 'attracted' a top manager in 20 years.  They certainly won't walk away from the PL to join a Championship club regardless of what month it is.

The ineptitude starts with Bruce.  It was obvious from the word go that it was a shit team set up.  Kodjia and Hogan just can't work together, and the midfield looked as bad as it has all season.

It's all very well Bruce and Wyness saying how angry they are, but to be honest the performance didn't stand out as being much worse than lots of others under Bruce.  They've mostly all been crap, and he's the chief instigator.

Exactly this, the time for excuses is over. This will wear very thin next season if we're still hearing these kinds of quotes.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt this season but this cannot go on.

All the players bought in January had good form and solid reputations how come as soon as they get to Villa Park it all disappears, this is repeating itself over and over, three proven goal scorers over the last two seasons, one sold one on loan and one who doesn't score anymore, we have a very sick club in my opinion and it needs a very strong dose of discipline.

I expect us to be much better next season - but we are Aston Villa and I wouldn't be surprised if we are roughly in the same league position this time next year.  I think defensively we're alright but the midfield needs tinkering with, if we can get the service to them than Hogan and Kodjia will score goals. Midfield, Bruce and Tone, the midfield. Oh yeah, and an established goalkeeper too.
