What troubles me is who the hell do we bring in?
Be realistic...who?
Once Huddersfield lose in the play offs we need to go for Wagner.

If Round and co have any cop on, they should be backing Bruce publicly. And at the same time sounding out intermediaries for Monk (tosspot with the most punchable face in football, but needs must) Ranieri, Prandelli or any other manager with 21st century ideas.

Ascertain what level of interest is still in the job. No point in throwing Bruce overboard just to end up with Warnock, Holloway or some other plum.

They have already said he's here next season.

Maybe they intend to employ him to cut up the half-time oranges?

I'd love us to go for Shavi Alonso. He has future very successful manager written all over him. He's 35 now so must be looking at packing in at the very highest level soon.  He could easily be player manager too at our level.  We'd be a good fit for the start of his managerial career.

The problem with giving Bruce the first 10-15 games next season (apart from potentially writing off another season) is that we'll be scraping the barrel, looking for an out of work manager again.

To get any hope of attracting a decent manager who is currently at another club, we'd have to act in the summer and offer big money for a Wagner, or a Howe. Otherwise wait til November and its a Pardew or a McLaren.

Not sure about Monk Kevin, my best mate is a big Leeds fan and reckons they are lucky to have been in the play off places as they aren't playing well and have no midfield.   According to him they've been scraping and grinding out results.  And now they have dropped out of the play off places.  Ranieri's recent record prior to Leicester was dreadful and one wonders how much of the league win was down to him or despite him.  This is where Wyness needs to earn his corn, other clubs seem to know who the up and coming coaches are and get them in.  I know Garde didn't work out for us but I think he was put in an impossible situation and I'd still go foreign.

it troubles me as well
the great minds that bought Bruce in might still go with the same philosophy of tried and tested no frills guaranteed promotion specialist,
which opens the door to the likes of Warnock, Holloway etc
Pulis and Alardyce are out of reach this time I suppose and we've already been through Mcliesh and Lambert so we can cross them of the list but someone of that same ilk does worry me

whilst I would gladly swap Bruce with most managers in the 11 Teams above us plus Clough Below us I wouldn't start there I'd go abroad and try and do what other teams have done and succeeded,
Unfortunately our little experiment with Garde might hold us back from doing that again which is why I'm worried we might end up with exactly the same as Bruce, Mcliesh, Lambert but in a different form

He's got until October for me. Although if we lose to that shower next week and keep them up I'll never forgive him.
Of course not a go at you, but against this train of thought.

So, Bruce should be given whatever financial backing is coming in the summer, a pre-season and then 3 months?
If it's not working out, replace him?
Fair point. My big concern is even when we win the football is dreadful and we don't play well. If we are challenging for promotion it still won't be exciting and we'll bore our way to 1-0 wins. Then imagine if he got us up, we'd have ten behind the ball every game in the Premier League.

Despite all that though I wouldn't sack him, but I can't put my finger on why. I suppose I'm just hoping that he comes good and that we need a bit of stability for once.

I have come to conclusion he isn't good enough...We need to be sounding out decent managers now. I really don't think he would get us promotion next season.
