Expect more of the same next season, poor football, Effective defence and scrappy wins.
Hope it will be enough.

Thanks, Risso. As if ruining Villa's winning run wasn't bad enough, you've also brought ChicagoChicken out of hiding.

We will finish next season about 8th if we carry on as we are. At the game today. Depressing

is that because our recent form suggests we'll finish 8th?

We've won 7 out of our last 10 games and drawn 1. 22 points out of 30.

How would that equate to finishing 8th next season if we 'carry on as we are'?  If we 'carry on as we are', we'd end up with over 90 points from the 46 matches.

We'll romp it next season.

Bruce has come in, made us hard to beat, overhauled a squad in January and made some excellent signings. He's building a squad with a better mentality than we've had in nearly a decade. A few more decent signings and we're on our way.

We've had years of stupid mistakes, late goals in both halves, no confidence, zero morale. I don't believe for a minute the squad huddles we witnessed meant fuck all but now I'm seeing a team which fight for each other. The movement and quality will eventually shine through and so will more goals from more players.

I can agree with most of that but the bold bit is pure hope and fantasy I'm afraid.  Bruce teams have never been about loads of goals and great passing and moving.  This is the bit that gets me into arguments on here.  Thinking he'll get us results and see us promoted is fine, his record backs that up but don't make the assumption that giving a safety-first manager who likes to keep his team structured and disciplined is suddenly going to move away from that after the best part of 2 decades.  I don't care if we're the biggest club he's managed or if he's able to get players than he's ever had before, he's not going to coach them or tactically set the team up to play any differently than he's ever done before.  Saying the football we'll get better and we'll score more goals just sounds like the Krulak line about McLeish to me.

Can any one explain why the way SB sets the team up means that the football is so awful ?
