Movement of the ball requires a few things - someone who can move into space to receive the ball, and we need someone who can pass the ball further than 2 yards ( I don't see many of those type of footballers down the Villa, or if in truth in the Chumpionship!)

Lets be honest the football is dreadful even the team that are starting to move away at the top of the table are not very good.

Not sure we will be able to play that way with Jedinak in the DM role.  To play that kind of game, we need someone in that role who can get on the ball and pick out passes. Jedinak has other strengths, but that is not one of them.
Jedinak is getting a bum rap on here at the moment. His has good passing abilities - I think - but is involved in a scrap most of the time meaning that time on the ball is a nanosecond in this league.

I don't think he has an ounce of footballing ability to be honest. It becomes abundantly clear if we go behind that he needs replacing as he offers nothing constructive, other qualities but to be honest I was expecting a lot more from him. His legs look gone in truth.

I'd love to see stats in this division about the team scoring first going on to win. Newcastle's win at Brighton I think was their first win coming from behind.

A lot of our games under Bruce have been horrendous to watch but Leeds away for example, the first goal was crucial in a scrappy game. Even at Newcastle we were on top until conceding.

He takes a good free kick if you're into that kind of thing.

Given our injury list and losing two players during the game, I think it was a decent performance against Rotherham. We did our job, despite losing one player to injury, and then his substitute to injury.

I will confess to not being at or even seeing the Rotherham game but it is telling that there were about 10highlights on the reel for Sky, 9 of which were ours and the other really did feel like a token gesture. they may be punching above their weight but i think they have pushed a couple of teams really close recently

For a player with no ability Jedinak has a) had a surprisingly good career and b) makes an incredible difference to our results.

This. There are loads of players that we have got rid of and were called shit by many on here. It would not be difficult to put them into several teams-all of which would likely beat our current one.
Players need to be coached and developed. They need to be picked and played for their strengths. This is how you see players truly shine-even when they have limited talent (that is not the same as shit). Gana, Albrighton etc...

I like Jedinak, he knows what he's there to do and he gets on with it.  I think what people need to realise is that he's effectively an advanced central defender, take him away and one of other defenders has to come out and win those balls and we lose our shape.  What we need to realise though is that if you have him in there you need to compensate by letting other players get further forward.

I think the one important thing this season was to actually start getting used to winning football matches again. Maybe some of the quality of the football at times has taken a back seat but hopefully with confidence that will return.

you might be happy with a few wins in this league but I was hoping for a quick return with the new owner and investment, or at the very least be in contention for a play off place which was not out of the question if we had a manager who was up to the job

I'm happy with a 'few wins'? I'm not sure why you seem so keen to put words into my mouth. We did need to start to learn to win again. Keith Wyness said exactly the same thing at the start of the season. We won 3 last season, which is something a lot of people tend to forget.

When Jedinak doesn't play we tend to lose, same could be said of Palace, he's the least of our problems.

The issue I have with this is the idea you can only do that by starting with ugly wins and then moving to a better style later.  For some people (I'm not thinking of anyone in particular) there seems to be an idea that we need to accept poor performances where we scrape by without looking convincing as a necessary part of the recovery process.

I agree that we needed to learn how to win games again i just don't accept that you can't do whilst also trying to create a long term style, I actually think that by doing it ugly you just make the turn around more difficult because there will be a second rebuild needed down the road.

If we play as badly as we have over the past three games and get the same results I'll be a very happy man.

It may not be pretty at times (and let's face it, it really hasn't been), but if it's effective, who cares?

I'd rather win the fucking league than finish 6th and play pretty.

Absolutely this. I feel that I'm having to defend him beyond his capability but he is actually quite effective.
And I have a Palace-supporting mate who says their fans are still missing him.

This is what I mean, playing better football means giving yourself more chances to win games and increases the chances of winning the league.  The 2 things aren't exclusive, playing better football doesn't mean passing it around aimlessly and winning less games and playing mind-numbing hoofball (not saying that's what we're doing) doesn't guarantee victories but for some people those things seem to be certainties that are indisputable, particularly the idea that you can't possibly be successful and good to watch.

that's fine but it's not been effective has it
we are currently 13th, nearer to the relegation spots than the play off places

if your scenario was working i might be able to see that the eventual outcome was worth it
as it happens we are just playing for pride for the rest of the season because Bruce has failed in what he was bought in to achieve

I can't imagine that many people would disagree with the following list of "how we should be doing" in order of preference

1) playing well and winning
2) playing badly and winning
3) playing well and losing
4) playing badly and losing

All season we've been flitting between 2, 3 and 4. I'd say that if Bruce is going to take us into next season, then there needs to be very little time for the rest of this one in pot 4, as I'd say he's pretty much used up his rations of that one.

Who said he was bought in to achieve promotion this season?

Not TZ or KW who have publicly stated same, and while that might be the opinion of those who want rid, one could argue that was an increasingly impossible task given the terrible start to the season, and the squad inherited.

Some beautiful rewriting of history there, I don't think I had ever heard the phrase 'promotion specialist' until last October.
