Short of burning the stadium down, I'm struggling to see how any new manager could do worse.

Copy and pasted from the Sherwood out thread. Little did we know.

Sherwood was shite too. Just because you dislike the current incumbent, it doesn't mean you have to like their predecessors.

New owner, new managers, new coaching staff, new players, and still shit.
This is what makes me think there's more to it than Bruce.

What have this season and last got in common (other than a shedload of losses)?

Why is Bruce giving off the image of suddenly being a shit manager?

I wonder what the new signings are making of things? Do they think they've walked into a basketcase, or do they feel they've arrived and don't have to do it anymore?

I know what you mean, and I largely agree with you.

It is staggering. We've changed manager several times (sometimes several times in the one season), we've changed owner, we've dropped a fucking division, we've bought some of the best players in that league and STILL there are about 15 or 16 teams above us in the table.

We buy Ross McCormack, for example, who has several seasons of being fucking lethal in this division, and he turns up with bitch tits and a shit attitude and gets fobbed off on Nottingham Forest.

We buy Hourihane, who looks brilliant for Barnsley, and he promptly disappears.

We appoint a promotion specialist as manager, a man whose very name is a by-word for sensible stability, and he looks more and more like he's picking players and formations at random, like he's on speed or something.

Brighton are flying high, so we nick one of their best coaches, and pretty much to the day, we turn into an uncoached fucking rabble who look like they've just turned out of the pub for a sunday morning kickabout, such is the lack of organisation.

We have a distinctly butter fingered Italian goalkeeper prone to moments of indecision and lapses of concentration, so we get rid of him, and who do we replace him with? Some flappy handed fucking 12 year old on loan from Man United. What's the point in that?

I honestly give up. I don't know what to suggest any more. I can't even get any drive or passion up about sacking Bruce. What's the point? We'll just end up where we are, regardless.

We are absolutely fucked. I firmly believe we're looking at a Leeds-esque long stay outside the top flight, and by the looks of it, it'll start with a stint in the third division. That'll bring back memories for some, but this time around it's not going to result in the title and European Cup in a dozen or so years time.

No. We can't keep changing managers.

Bruce had a decent run of form after coming in. The only decent run of form in at least the last two seasons.

Not to be pedantic, but I would say that he had a decent run of results. I don't think that the 'form' has ever been good under Bruce.

Got to be now, can't see any points from any game apart from maybe Bristol City till April, by the we will be bottom 3 and then whoever comes in won't have enough time to pull out of the dive

I'm sure the whole Johnstone signing was all about helping his mates.

There doesn't seem to be any other logic to it.

Mid-table mediocrity is the best that can be hoped for now. Anything less than four points from the next three games and Bruce should go.

If, by some fluke, Villa did manage to beat Newcastle then anything less than 7 points from the three games

I can't say I'm that over keen on the new keeper either. He looked ok on his debut and while I haven't seen last night's goals back yet,  I think I'd prefer Bunn back in. He's a bit older and more experienced.

I haven't got the foggiest idea. Sack him and bring in a new manager who needs time to start again and potentially would want the summer window to bring in his own players, shipping out most of Bruce's players in the process. Then lose 6 in a row early on and sack him. Or we keep Bruce and things either gradually improve or they stay as bad as they are now.

We've faced this predicament too many times in the past few years and history looks doomed to repeat itself. No-one it seems, knows a fix. It's fucking depressing.

I think we ought to start a thread on how many changes he will make for the next game at Newcastle - my guess is 4

Best piece on here, in a long time. unfortunately apart from being on the money, Paul is spelling out the demise of Aston Villa. its got to be players attitudes these days, these players weve signed, in the main come from tin pot shit kicking clubs and all of a sudden there here, they've made it. But what got them here was ability shown at their dog track grounds, so they come on to this beautiful pitch with these intimidating stands the likes they've hardly seen, so they find it easier to stand there and let someone else show for the ball, but then that's what nearly all of them are doing, hey presto, Villa get turned over. if we haven't got one, I suggest Villa get a psychologist.

I like Donna but I always wonder if the collar and cuffs match

I've got to be honest, it would not be a deal breaker for me if they don't.
