I'd rather go straight up to be honest and I'm sure that's the aim.

He seems to have settled on a formula that is  getting results, it’s ugly but at the moment effective.
To get automatic promotion he still needs to.
1.come up with a plan B
2. Get results against the Top teams in the Division.

Are you saying he hasn't changed tactics at any point?

As for getting results against the top teams, I'd agree.

Point two is why we can't be happy with the play-offs. We don't win in big games.

don’t need to win
couple of draws go through on pens
Win the final on pens
Job sorted
Prem here we come

It worked for Huddersfield last season

We're doing ok.

I agree. He's doing the absolute bare minimum expected of him.

Yep, we're doing ok. 7 (seven) points is catchable.
It's 5 (Five) or 9 (Nine) so agreed he is doing a very steady job slightly under achieving at the moment.

Where are we at with this? Is Saturday's match against whoever it is another MUST WIN?

No it's a MUST WIN rather than a MUST WIN.
A must win? Yes I'd say so. Need to up our game after last night's unconvincing win.

Before we all get too carried away with the pisstaking, let's not forget we're 9 (nine) points behind Wolves still.

Let's hope we win with added possession to ensure we get the bonus points awarded for winning with more possession.

From the comments to that Guardian article quoted above.

This made me snort tea out through my nostrils.

Quote
What concerns me is what will happen to these manager's now? My suggestion is that they form a Jazz band and call it Frank De Boer and the Honey Badgers. Bilic in the corner chain-smoking as he plucks at the double bass, Tony Pulis in his baseball cap angrily whacking a tambourine. I'd pay to see it.
Haha! That's brilliant! I didn't realise the writers of Rick and Morty wrote in the comments section of the Guardian.

We've only really had one so far, the Wolves.

As for getting results against the top teams, I'd agree.
Its 4 4 1 1 and fresh legs and more defenders to protect a lead.
Based on injuries and fatigue I think we will need more than that.

Well his protect a lead tactic has worked hasn’t it? How many points have we dropped from winning positions? How many goals conceded in the last ten? Pretty sure it’s nil

these were huge weaknesses last season. He said he’d tackled them and he has

I think the main weakness from last season was the absence of a striker who could hold the ball up, but in Davis he has found one who can do that and we look a better side as a result when he plays well.  I still think there are question marks about the midfield, but it is probably more a shape thing than personnel.

After Tuesday night, I am increasingly getting the feeling that we are more suited to playing away from home.  When the onus is on us to set the tempo and break teams down, we still struggle.  I think we are better when teams come on to us and we are able to hit them on the break.

Sunderland didnt sit back they came at us not very successfully but they were on the offensive just about
we had one shot in the first 30 mins which was the goal which proves your point about hitting people on the break,
however no team was really pressing forward with any conviction everyone was just moving around and giving the ball away to the opposite side all the time

your right about the midfield though they are crap and have absolutely no chance of surviving in the prem league (if we get there) never seen the ball given away so often even when we had Westwood etc at least they were struggling against prem opposition not bottom of the championship fodder

That’s probably why I didn’t mention them as things he still needs to do.
Or are you disputing 1 and 2 above or just trying to score points?
