We're fecking boring, even when we win 90% of the time the football is crap. When we attack I struggle to get excited because I just can't see us scoring, especially in away games. We hit the bar twice today yes but did very little else. For the money we've spent and the players we've got we should have dominated the ball against a poor Small Heath side.

His trouble is he thinks you can only get promoted by grinding out results, playing containing football and having a must not lose attitude. Sheff Utd are showing this season you can be positive and have a go in games and get results. They went to their more established neighbours Sheff Wednesday and ripped them to pieces. We went to struggling Small Heath and let them dictate most of the play and hoped to score with a rare attack. Sheff Utd went to Leeds and took the game to them and beat them. When we go to Leeds in December we'll let them have the ball and hope to contain them.

We need to face facts in that even if we do go up it will be by playing shit football and scraping a few away wins. Then if are up we'll go to places like Watford and try to cling on for a draw.

yep except the likes of watford won't miss the scoring opportunities presented to them that is commonplace in this league

Let's look at his record in any big away game or against decent opposition:
Small Heath drew two
Wolves lost two
Cardiff lost two
Leeds lost
Fulham lost
Huddersfield lost
Newcastle lost
Brighton drew
Bristol City drew
Norwich lost

The only teams we've beat away from home under him are Reading, QPR, Rotherham, Wigan, Barnsley and Burton. Reading were decent last season but the rest are/were shite. Not a single result in there that would make anyone take notice and make a statement.

If only there was a means of measuring who was the best. Say a league table of sorts?

Which indicates we're still a way off top 2 despite for us a very good run of form (5 wins in 7).

I fear top 2 will be as elusive as top 6 was last year, we go on decent unbeaten runs but the gap remains the same and we can't capitalise when others above drop points.

A pretty damming record. Play offs at best

We are having a decent run of form and in a play off position, so I wouldn't say this was the time to start chipping away at him. To finish in the top two in any division is a big ask, but with the size of our club and the time and money he has been given we are entitled to expect to be in the top six, which we are.

How are Small Heath "decent opposition" but Barnsley aren't?

edit: eh saw the "big away game" clause. Yeah I guess thats fair.

Bruce isn't doing amazingly well, but he is certainly not doing badly enough to get sacked. That would be nuts.

Just as nuts as them lot getting rid of Rowett. Also nuts was giving 'Arry a shed load of money and then about three games to show how well he had spent it. I was surprised at some pre match media commentators criticising Redknapp for the money he spent. Firstly, he could only spend the money the owners allowed him to and secondly as I said he wasn't given a reasonable amount of time after spending the money. Thirdly, since when did they media start having a pop at their darling 'Arry. Stupid question, it was when he left the South for the Northern wastelands of Birmingham.

Agreed. We are currently there or thereabouts in regards to potential promotion.

I flip flop more often than fat New Yorkers on South Beach but this week I agree with you. He is back into "solid, sensible" Steve mode. Which is good enough for the moment.

November is huge for Bruce and for us and could be pivotal as to where we'll finish.

Preston away. Having a decent season but no great shakes. Just lost at home to Brentford.
Sheff Wednesday home. Having a poor season compared to recent ones and on a poor run.
QPR away. Great result for them yesterday but mid table team at best.
Sunderland home. Nightmare season.
Ipswich home. Decent season. Will finish mid table.

If we're serious about finishing in the top two we need to be taking 12+ points out of that lot imo.
