Bradford was there for the taking.
Leicester was there for the taking.
Leyton Orient was there for the taking.
Sheffield Wednesday was there for the taking.
Doncaster was there for the taking.
Bolton was there for the taking
Luton was there for the taking.
QPR was there for the taking.
Burnley was there for the taking.
Now Boro are can be added to that.

I wouldn't say that. Our reserves are bobbins so while i and others were unsure whether he should play the reserves, once he made the decision, then a defeat was inevitable. If we win next game with a rested 1st team then it will be viewed as  an acceptable sacrifice. If we don't then people will ask whether Bruce damaged our momentum by playing the reserves. Tough call.

I'm fed up because I paid £15 to watch Villa roll over and die yet again. That tie was there for the taking with a slightly more imaginative team selection.  Kodjia would have benefited from a cameo last night and could well have done what Bamford did, for example. Bruce out, soon, please Dr T.

I'm fed up of clubs thinking they can charge fans £15, probably more at some of the ties last night, to watch a reserve team game.

IF we win our next league game and it is a big if, it will be the winning of one league game, no more, no less.  To have achieved those giddy heights we will have endured an utterly dire defeat, driven down the home gate and perpetuated the loathing many of us feel for what continues to be put before us.  The resting of key players for a final, a semi final or a play off is normal and acceptable but not for a run of the mill September league game.  The loss of the momentum from Barnsley more than outweighs the sacrifice of playing the likes of Elphick and Bjarnason.

How did that Wigan momentum see us fare over the next three games?

Absolutely. £5 for adults & free for kids. If you reach later stages ie:quarters/semis then £15/5. There would of been probably 20,000 last night.if you factor in the catering sales it wouldn't be costly.  People could take kids to get them interested and the game would have some atmosphere for the chosen players. It has to happen or this competition will be totally finished.

Quite - tho I guess you can argue it was the international break that disrupted that

Speaking of which, we have another international break coming up after the Bolton game. That's the obvious point Tony would act

If we get 7 points plus out of the next 3 games I think Bruce will be safe for a little while - and that seems fair enough to me. I'd be ok with 12 points from September. We should be aiming for 14 of course.

The Wigan momentum hit the buffers when he started tinkering again.  But you Bruce enthusiasts see it differently as is your privilege.  Put out more flags.  We are out of the League Cup.

Quite correct again Brian, we spent the first 30 minutes against Bristol chasing shadows and looking all over the shop with 5 at the back and theBristol crowd and players gee'd up knowing we were their for the taking. Very poor management.

So we had no momentum then.

We have had three decent goes at it, well two and a half, over the past 14-15 years and in one of them I would have much rather gone out in the second round than suffer what actually transpired.

I'm a Villa fan thank you, that's where my enthusiasm lies, although I mirror the 92 club sides approach to this competition. It's a reserve match that I attend out of loyalty unless we sleep walk our way into the quarter final and then it's game on.

I've seen worse, I knew what to expect. Nobody apparently cared with a sub-Holte attendance.

Third home game in a row we haven't scored, in 2 of them we managed only 1 shot on target.

And at one point £25M worth of strikers on the pitch

Assets must be valued at the lower of cost (25m) or net realisable value (about 4m).

I wonder what concerns Xia more, another poor performance/defeat or the attendance?

I'd imagine Bruce is still surviving game by game.

if that were true he'd be locked away in a dark room in Bruce Towers right now, clutching a big compo wedge and a P45

Bobbins you say
yet half of them bought by our manager some very recently

if that doesn't tell you he's got no clue nothing will
