Remember when Lambert tried playing the possession game? Says it all really.

Fuck me that was laughable. Our biggest strengths were a bustling bullying centre forward and an a midfield action man. He decided to play to their weaknesses

It's 40 games now and all we can clutch to is the game at Brighton last season and Norwich at home. We have by far the best squad and we just haven't clicked at all. I obviously hope i'm proved wrong, but the fact that the squad is lob sided and we have now team identity really worries me. I don't want to be the profit of doom, but I can't see us being top half by the beginning of Oct, which with our squad should be a sack able offence.

Surely we've got to click at some point.  You can't have this many good players on paper and continue being rubbish forever.
Exactly what I keep saying over and over in my head.

Yep he needs 14 odd points from the 6 games in September.
Except one of those is a cup game but we need the points ;)

I was actually surprised when someone told me the possession stats because it didn't seem like they had that much of the ball. It's not something I take too much notice of anyway.
Like a wise man once said "the only stat that really matters is the one in the top left of the screen"
I never said that:)

People that are not happy with Bruce are often told "5 games into the season is not sufficient to make an informed decision on how Bruce is doing!" (Never mind the previous 35).

So I don't see how one result against Norwich can be used to suggest we may have turned a corner?

Looking at the fixtures, I am expecting 14+ points in September. Much less and Bruce should be gone. No excuses.

It's not just one result that gives some  sort of indication that perhaps and I say perhaps we can be optimistic.  The general strength of our squad should see us through this marathon,  succeeded in difficult conditions with squad players at Colchester, a decent squad performance against Wigan, a battling performance where we ended up much the stronger team at Bristol.

Okay we surrendered at Cardiff and were indifferent at Reading - but look at Sheff  Wed struggling at Burton, Derby losing at Bramall Lane, Fulham and their "great  manager" only one league victory, Leeds losing their main striker, Middlesborgh not pulling up trees etc etc.  We will be there or thereabouts.  The plus point this  season  is that we have players who can come  in and  go more than a decent job, with perhaps  left back the only position where we now lack respectable cover.

Believe me prospective managers will think heavily before testing  their CV and coming to the Villa.   We will be fine and you can quote me on this come the end  of this  season.  Sit back and enjoy.

Believe me, Bruce won't be here come the end of the season, unless he sorts out this inconsistency (and that's bring polite) quickly. 1 and a half decent games out of 5 doesn't cut it.

Agreed.

I think it will also be 'make or break' for Bruce.

I'm praying he can get it right, for our sakes as well as his.

The opportunity to prove himself is there for him in September. If he doesn't take it he has no excuses available to him.
