I don't blame Bruce for coming across a bit defensive in his press conference. A couple of things are annoying though firstly, How he still thinks we played well against Reading. When everything from the press reports, the match stats and result prove otherwise. Secondly his comments about how many managers we go through. It's not like we have wanted them all to be shit is it? And every one of them have deserved to go,most should of gone a lot fucking sooner. Garde is the only one I feel sorry for, I wonder what he would of achieved with this chairman and the chance to ship out some of the poisonous players.

Bruce has had the luxury of financial backing, two transfer windows, a pre season, half of a season to get things sorted to work out what he wanted in pre season, and the good will of fans and not forgetting he knows this fucking league so well. If he can't work out how long he has been here and that we aren't judging him after 3 games but his whole time. Then maybe he isn't clued up enough to manager us.

It would be too early to consider we were bossing the league. It would be nice, but not massively important. The same way the start isnt acceptable, the fact we're 23rd after three games is neither here nor there.

The fact we're 23rd means we have eight points fewer than some teams, which if we're allegedly going to be competing with them could be rather important.

I'm not going to be convinced being 1st, 23rd or where ever after 3 games is of any consequence. There are 43 games to go.

We know what we need and at the moment we have to hope this very small sample of 3 games is short term form or the manager will go and we will suffer for it.

he's the worst manager we've had for 50 years maybe ever

Lol, as the kids of today would say.

I would find it hard to put a cigarette paper between DimTim, TSM, Lamberk, RDM and Potato-head. All are dross and share the distinction of creating a culture of mediocrity. All, in their own way, have spunked the club's resources in a truly profligate way; and have suffered from massive delusions of capability.
It is true that the club's owners and senior officers (Wyness, Fox et al) also deserve all the pelters aimed at them.

I too believe he is the worst manager since Billy McNeill.  The managers he needs to be measured against - O'Leary, Houllier, McLeish, Lambert, Sherwood, Garde, Black, and KMac all played far better opposition than that Bruce has faced.  That leaves RDM who was shown the door after a much shorter and much less grim run of games in the Championship.  Given time Bruce would prove to be worse than RDM.  Bruce's terrible record with us has been against second division opposition.

I'm with you on this. How nice would it be to have Garde now

Not only that Brian but with far greater resources than any of them. Even with all the odds stacked in his favour he's got us in the relegation zone. That's quite something.

To be fair john, you've never given him a chance!

true enough but I've never kept that a secret either

if he had walked in through the door turned round and walked straight back out again it would have been to long for me

but he wasn't some young hopeful I knew exactly what we were getting and didn't want it

he has been worse than even i thought but even at the height of his powers when he was at Blues or Hull there was never one single second of one single day when I wished he was our manager

I know what I do not like and i don't like Bruce Football, tactics, signings, team set ups etc and that was before he came
Frankly I think he's a fucking rubbish manager who fans even when he's done well don't care when he leaves he's that bloody boring

he has no place at Aston Villa and should never have been appointed

but you are right enough Chris, I didn't give him a chance but he's done nothing to make me think again

You were right back then and you are right now.

The fact we're 23rd also means that only 1 manager has had a worse start than our "promotion specialist", and 22 managers have done better.

White Hart Lane. November. 2011. The night the scales fell from my eyes on one of the worst managers ever.

Fast forward to May 2012. Norwich. A side mathematically safe. 7 defenders start the game. The curtain called on the stupidest decision since 1874, on somebody so chronic only Turner, McNeil or Garde belong ahead of him in the pantheon of awful managers in modern Villa history.

Garde was not awful. He is not remotely as bad as Graham Turner or Billy McNeill.  I doubt you saw either of them.

Billy McNeill has to be the all time low. Managing to relegate two clubs the size of Villa and Man City in the same season is one hell of an achievement.

I agree, he had no preseason nor was able to sign anybody he wanted, jeez we know how to ruin a career.  If we had him now I'm convinced we would be better

Garde had a horrible record with us, but the mitigating circumstances were pretty f*cking mitigating.

I bear no grudge against Garde whatsoever, he was treated very badly by the club at that time.

McNeill was the worst - he was as bad in terms of management and coaching as Sherwood, Turner, McLeish, Lambert (largely) but much much worse was he really didn't give a shit for us or City.
