I presume the reality is we're selling Grealish for £25m ish because of FFP. If we sack Bruce that's going to leave another 6-7m hole in our finances that we simply can't cover at the moment.

I want a change myself and understand the frustration.  But I can also accept that right now may not be the right time.

That's the bit I am not sure about. If we pay off our debts, are we still in trouble with FFP because of the ratio of turnover to wages etc? in which case we still lose Grealish.

Of course, we're forgetting that he might get poached... promotion specialist, works on a shoestring...

Yes, we still have to abide with FFP regulations which are based on profit & loss.  You are allowed to lose a max £13m per season over 3 seasons.  We are very much behind on our 3 season cycle so need to make significant savings this season.  You can't just chuck in £20m as a gift to make up the difference.

I still haven’t seen any credible answer to who picks the next manager if we get rid. I am assuming none of us trust Xia to make the right choice, the new co-owners have no football experience and we have sacked Wyness and Round. The next appointment has to be right, we have what looks like a huge opportunity so to rush into making what will be the single most important decision for the sake of punishing Bruce seems illogical

cant argue with any of that
there's no point rushing to replace the wrong manager (imo)  for another wrong manager

Agreed.  If nobody is lined up we have no alternative but to start with Bruce.  I have a feeling he will be strongly encouraged to use the youth more, but we'll see.

Hmmm, so no easy fix then and exciting times are a year or two away but at least we're solvent-ish now.

Yep, if it takes us 3-4 months to sort the structure in the background and then we look at Bruce in October/November with a clear definition of where we need to be at that point and what we want in a replacement if we decide to go that way. I haven't changed my opinion on Bruce, he'll do nothing to benefit the club in the long term but I don't think he'll do as much damage between now and December as would be done by us rushing into a panicked appointment and ending up with someone totally unsuitable.

I agree with paul_e here. If we change I just think we’ve got an RDM situation all over again and it won’t be pretty. Sticking with Bruce while the new guys work out what they want to do is the pragmatic solution to the situation, the issue comes when we’re top of the league in November when they’ve decided Bruce isn’t for them......still it’ll be a nice problem to have.

I get both sides of the argument. We've got new owners so it's a chance of a new broom, a fresh start etc and that does sound appealing. We're also only a fortnight away from the season starting and 10-11 days from the transfer window closing so not changing it makes sense as well. We're in a better situation than we were this last week which is the main thing.

To me at this level Bruce is a 75% manager (similar to MON in the top league) - does a lot well, but lets himself down at key moments. For QPR and Fulham for Bruce see Stoke and Moscow.

To be honest, I think the appointment of a new Director of Football is the most important decision at this point.  We need someone who has the vision and experience to take the club forward.

I agree but would add a new CEO as well. Those 2 will be the ones who decide how we move forward and whether Bruce is part of it or not. I hope they decide he isn't and put a structure in place that means we're never again in the position of thinking hiring 5 over 30s in a single window is a good idea (ok, technically Elmo and Snoddy were 29 when they signed but both of them turned 30 in early september so I'm counting them as over 30 for last season).
