I'm quite surprised no-one approached us for Bruce during the firesale period. Surely his stock hasn't fallen that much that there wasn't a club desperate enough to buy into the Mr Promotion myth? Ah well 3rd time lucky

So what's the point keeping him if the club is deciding the signings and it's said Bruce doesn't do the training. I'll go on tv after games and say "that's the Championship, off wi me heed" for a lot less money.

And we should already have a shortlist of potential replacements, we should always have a list of them so as to be ready if a manager needs to be replaced at a moment's notice. Although that requires common sense, which has been lacking for a long time

Who is the “we” that should have the list? There is no football experience on the board with the sackings of Round and Wyness. The club are being pragmatic, for once, and not diving into a change for the sake of punishing Bruce which might potentially lead to another dollop of compensation to pay down the line.

It’s not ideal but nevertheless  sensible in the circumstances to wait and then to make the decision on our terms at a time that suits us.

Leeds did.

They didn't as far as I know. It was him briefing the press in the hope of forcing a back or sack situation.

His statement yesterday sounded a bit like “great, they can afford to pay me off now!”

He said yesterday that we are lucky to have him. Quite how he can be so big headed about his managerial abilities is beyond me. He’s failed twice at this club and is a huge contributor to the shit we are in.

He's shitting himself then that the new owners will want to bring their own man in. If they do, I hope they do a better job than...well, it's been a long time since we had an owner get that part right.

I think he's been in the game long enough to realise what happens when new owners come in, he's said that himself. It's their call and their money at the end of the day.

If he really did have the hubris to say we're lucky to have him then I hope he gets mummified on Tuesday.

Not that I am one to defend him but I think what Bruce meant by lucky is that with everything else going on lucky to have a manager and staff on board, with experience who know the club and want to be there.

That said I hope he’s fired on Tuesday.

The article i read was that he said 'we needed him there' during the turmoil which was arguably true. Whatever was going on off the pitch, it needed to carry on as normal as possible on it.

Here is the article.

That’s slightly different to the way you have spun it.

He said, in his opinion, the club needs him but wouldn’t be surprised if the new owners had different ideas. Self belief surely goes with the territory, you are not going to put yourself in the firing line where anyone can and will have a pop without possessing a great deal of confidence in your abilities.

The stars are aligning.  The two funniest and the oldest poster on H and V will be in the same bar next Tuesday.
