1991/1992 Yellow 3rd Away Shirt
« on: February 01, 2017, 10:33:16 AM »
I've acquired a yellow third shirt from the 1991/1992 season.
Size Large.
I'm looking for a medium so if anyone that has one and would like to swap please get in touch.
Thanks.

Great shirt, but wasn't it cursed?  I think we lost every game we played in it, albeit a small number of games.

Loved the shirt as it was truly unique to Villa... wish we still had Umbro.

Hated it and still do.

Lost to Liverpool in an FA Cup Qtr final in it.

Think we wore it once more in an away at Forest where they had no central defenders played Keane and Clough there and we lost 2-0.

Cut it up for dish rags.

i think we wore it a few times, BFR's first year we wore it at Southampton I think it was - I seem to recall Kevin Richardson scored in it. Was it Southampton? We definitely wore it at Southampton in 92-93, it was the week after we beat Ipswich 2-0 and the 40 yard Dean Saunders volley. We lost 2-0.

Have hated the yellow shirt since I was watched us lose to Liverpool in 92 in the company of 5 uni housemates (all Irish plastic Liverpool fans). That was the FA Cup we should have won.

Villa away kits should be white shirts (maybe with some light blue) and claret shorts.

The kit was actually donated to the Aston Villa Old Stars as it was thought to be unlucky for the first team

I still have mine, but for some reason the material use to make me sweat more than others...maybe it was just me, I was a teenager at the time.

What size is it mate?  If it's a medium would you be open to swapping for a large?

Unlucky is putting it mildly, worn three times, lost three times one of those an eminently winnable FA Cup Qtr final. It was a crass blatant cash in by Ellis and it crashed and burned. And burning is what should happen to every single one of those fucking shirts. It wasn't as if it was some sort of design classic either it was an abomination of yellow with a claret motif printed on it. It's utterly disgusting and makes me physically retch whenever I think about it. If you've got one and are wondering what you should do with it, burn it the next time you have a bonfire. If you have the courage to wear it, don't be surprised if your friends shun you and people fart in your direction. In fact it should be added to the items to be banned at Villa Park list. One of the worst things to happen at the club during a time when things were generally positive and moving in the right direction.

And breathe.....
