Probably not the right way to express my feelings, but we really need to keep a high profile in the city centre, especially now.

Stick a few adverts up then.

Sad to say that Doctor Tony's tweets are more effective than the New Street shop these days.

When Charlie Chaplain made the film "Modern Times", he wasn't kidding around.

Thats really not going to make much difference though, is it? I love adidas gear and always make a beeline for their shop when in town.

It might mean we are looking for a new location for cheaper rent. Just a thought.

It probably made sense when we were chasing fourth place in the premier
League. Disappearing without trace in the championship, not
so much.

Surprised people haven't bombarded Tone with tweets about this. They usually complain to him if their pie was a bit cold at the match.

A ticket kiosk or two would make sense, a shop less so these days. That said if there was still a tourist information office in the city tickets could have been sold in ther.

To be fair it was surrounded by pretty low class shops so would be better to have. Smaller shop in a better part of town, like in the bullring?

The day of the shop is slowly coming to an end and online retail is the way forward, I can't see the point in having a fully stocked and staffed shop that isn't covering its own costs especially when we aren't in the premier league.

Cut your cloth to suit and all that

Ok sweetheart. Fail to see how that means I don't like Villa fans? It was tongue in cheek if anything that they abuse him being on there to message him about silly things.

I think this may be something to do with many of the other shops at that end of New Street being closed and stripped out.

Depends how much it's losing. Or if the landlords are trying to screw us because we're Villa and they thought we'd pay it.
It's nothing to do with the Landlords.

The rent was £205,000 pa, the business rates approx £72,000 pa and a small service charge - less than £5k pa.

There was a few years left on the lease with a legal right to renew at market rent.

This was purely a commercial decision.

surely taking over a small part of retail space in debenhams or selfridges would make more sense

Please don't encourage them
