lambert versus bruce
« on: January 15, 2017, 10:39:08 AM »
the wolves match showed a contrast between Lambert and Bruce that suggested deeper problems than we thought. Lambert was ten years younger than he looked at Villa. His team was a real unit and without spending loads of money they played a brand of football far better than when they came to Villa - and were unlucky not to win in Bruce's first game in charge.

Bruce alas looked like Lambert did before he left - worried, deeply troubled and at a loss to know what was going on. Indeed, all Villa managers look like this after a few months. What is wrong with our club? If Lambert on the back of his last few results gets WOlves higher up the table than Villa can achieve the question is unavoidable - are Villa unmanageable?

Lambert hasn't had time to ruin Wolves.

The Wolves and Villa jobs are on a totally different level. He was shit for us and a liar to boot.

Lambert was a flippin disaster and a main part of the reason we are where we are.

Lerner is the main culprit as to where we stand today.

Lambert took the Lerner dollar and fronted up for him, lying and allowing him to hide in the back ground doing nothing. Lerner is the true culprit, criminal negligence at a footballing level. Lambert has a part to play in this corpse we currently have as a club.

I agree that Lerner was the number 1 culprit but closely followed by both Lambert and Fox.

As someone so perfectly put it on here recently, those three were an "axis of stupidity".

Paul Lambert. The man who would literally do anything to hold on to the job.

He'd sacrifice his two assistants, claiming he had no idea what they were doing at BMH.

He lied every single week when he faced the media.

Gave Gabby a brand new long term contract when it was clear he was finished.

He's not solely to blame, obviously, but the man is a total fraud. He's right up there with David O'Leary for me.

Many said Sherwood was a chancer, but Tim hasn't got a thing on this charlatan.

Lambert is a fantastic manager. We must not let his obvious lack of principles, vacuous gravitas and poor tactical nous colour our judgment of the great man.

We lost to Cardiff aswell and didn't have a shot. Does that mean you'd want Neil Warnock?

Even if Wolves finish above us; even if Lambert takes them into the Premier League in the next couple of seasons; even if he wins the Champions League (like he did as a player, don't you know) - as far as I'm concerned, he'll never remove the stain on his professional character, which is his role in assisting Lerner, Faulkner and Fox ruin Aston Villa.

I didn't think Wolves were any great shakes last night. Nothing about that game was a ringing endorsement of Lambert.

If I remember correctly, Lambert had and spent a fair chunk of money at Villa. I'd guess more than some of the other lower league teams at the time. He lurched from one idea to the next: buying young and hungry players, to filling up with those about to retire. Then those revolutionary tactics of passing it to Guzan from the corner flags. He was quite happy to sign that bumper four year (?) contract too. He can do one.

Give  him time and he will mess Wolves  up more than they want to imagine.
