5 biggest games for me - sadly a long time ago

1978 Villa 2 Barcelona 2

25 April 1981 Villa 3 Middlesboro 0 - last home game & singing "We're gonna win the league"

26 Dec 1989 Villa 3 Man U 0

30 Dec 1989 Villa 2 Arsenal 1

Oct 1990 Villa 3 Inter Milan 0

Runners up April 82 Villa 1 Anderlecht 0

Special mention to Jan 1984 live on BBC1. Villa 1 Liverpool 0 at half time, before we lost 1-3 Ian Rush hat trick. The burning of a Liverpool scarf at the back of the Holte, knees up Mother Brown and the brick through the bus windscreen on the way home to Warwick, our driver was a hero, he must have been frozen !
I think this was the first live to game from Villa Park ?

Remember that night as it was freezing, remember turning up at the holte an hour before kick off and the turnstiles werent open

didnt the bbc also put a shed like structure right at the back of the holte and stuck a cameraman in it

My top three would all be from 1983. Barcelona, Juventus and 'The Battle Of Brum'.

After a day I came up with the other two. Inter in 1990 and Bradford in 1988 (last but one game before Swindon away?)

There's been some cracking atmospheres at non-Villa games too.
Lazio fans were loud in the Holte v Majorca in 99. Very colourful ocassion.
Scotland v Holland and Holland v Switzerland at Euro 96.
Liverpool v West Ham League cup final replay,
All those FA cup semis - Man Utd v Leeds in a night match in 1970 was the first I went to and the ground had a real buzz that night. I also went to a few semis where it was very quiet as well, probably as the games were often let downs.

Tranmere. 1994. by a country mile the best atmosphere I've ever experienced in a football ground.

Inter Milan in the same year was the closest.

Exactly this from me as well.  An unforgettable experience.  Nothing comes close.

I found the atmosphere against Blues in 2003 (when Dublin got sent off) the most hate filled atmosphere I ever experienced.
