302 all out.  Again could've been worse but also could've been much better.  Gave a few wickets away today. Ominous for the tail the way the Aussies bounced them out, they'll be getting lots of short stuff on this tour.

That was a hell of a collapse earlier. We need to break this partnership or it'll get away from us.

We've lost some imagination here.

The advantage of nocturnal cricket is the element of the unknown, with hours of cricket passing you by. I woke at 4.20 and switched on the radio just in time to hear Warner go, with Boycott laughing like a drain. Although that impetous has gone it was a delight, as was the 20 minute drive to work with Agnew and the Yorkshire Red.
It may be Australia in the driving seat at the close of play, our bowling has gone very flat.

This reminds me of last series, with the exception of us getting a few runs. We had them on the wrack with the ball and they've got off the hook and I wouldn't be surprised to wake up tomorrow and find us around 200 behind.

If we don’t get Smith out soon, think they’ll get a big score and then skittle us out cheaply.  Our tail just has very little.

We need to hit them hard in the morning and nick a couple off in first hour. Our problem is our collapse left us 50-75 runs short of what we should have got.

18 overs to the new ball equals say 60 runs - would be great if we can get at least one before taking it and really pressure Paine and their tail then - two before then could put us in a place to get a lead which would be vital in a low-scoring game.

That's pretty much as I see it. Those Kookaburra balls are great for the first 15 overs or so then they just lose all life and do absolutely nothing. This is where we miss a bowler like Hoggard or Bresnan; someone who can hold an end up and bowl plenty of overs for not many runs. Michael Vaughan referred to Hoggard as a factory floor sweeper which is good comparison.

We need to strangle their scoring in the morning and try and induce mistakes and get the new ball around lunchtime. If we don't we will be too far behind by stumps on day three.

Agree Paul and the game is moving along quite quickly.  A few poor sessions tomorrow and we could be in trouble.

In fairness you could say exactly the same about Australia.

Our problem is if it's not Broad or Anderson we'll struggle. Neither Ball or Woakes were consistant enough today to build pressure which is where they got away in the last session. We really need that bowler who can slip themselves to that 145+ kph or just have that variation, left arm over or skiddy action. Our first change bowlers are a bit too predictable with a Kookaburra on Aussie pitches. 137-142 kph won't cut it if you've no variation, batsmen can just line you up over here.

Still everything to play for tomorrow, forecast is showers around for the rest of the match. I'd bite your hand off for a draw.
