Just because clubs don't get "swamped" with complaints doesn't mean things are fine. Just because you personally don't ever want to hear any criticism of the club on any issue, doesn't mean things are fine either.

Plenty will be annoyed at having to spend well over a hundred quid for a couple of train tickets, which could easily be avoided by just releasing tickets earlier.

Incidentally I see Newcastle fans have an arrangement whereby they get discounts on Virgin Trains, maybe Villa could look at providing similar?

I'm far from one of the moanier fans on here but I don't see anything wrong with pointing out where improvements can be made.

I'm happy for the club to receive criticism if it's valid, so getting snippy with that kind of remark is unnecessary, especially when I've suggested that you could buy a railcard if you are a regular away traveller by train (I'm not sure if you are).

I happen to think (and this is my opinion) that the way tickets are sold works well. The last tickets to go on sale were for Brighton on the 8th October, so this gives people time until the next one's go on sale, especially those in the away scheme, who's ticket money goes out as soon as the tickets go on sale.

As for pointing out improvements, then maybe writing to the club suggesting them would be and idea, if you haven't already.

We are going round in circles but if the Brighton tickets had gone on sale a few weeks earlier... and all the other tickets had too, there would be no need to worry about paying for multiple tickets at once.

I might investigate the railcard idea and will suggest that tickets get released earlier next time someone on here requests ideas for a meeting with Dr T. Ta.

CD - you could say that the system favours those who go to most games and are confident enough of getting a ticket that they can book trains well in advance - before the Johnny-come-lately glory hunters get in on the act. Only joking.
The real problem here is the way trains are priced.

Does anyone know of a way you can buy train tickets and pay maybe a quid or so extra for the right to cancel later on?

Anyone know how they do the seating? Is it two-tiered. Going to buy a couple of spares and a couple of us will be getting it through the club. Don't want to end up in different tiers, ideally.

We'll get upper and lower, just under 3,000, but most clubs just have a few hundred in the upper tier (Small Heath 960 opening day of season).
I sat on that side (West Stand) for a game there last season, but other side of the halfway line with home fans. It looks all one level but there is a wall splitting the back (Upper) and front (lower). I don't recall the two levels sharing a concourse, but got there late from a pub so went straight to seat. It's an old stand so a bit cramped.

Newcastle have got 2700 for their game there, £37. So we can probably expect the same.

That's the total I was given by a Leeds fan on another forum. Gonna be a struggle to get tickets with only two aways so far.

Cdbullywee, if you travel with a regular mate, you should look at a "two together railcard". Usually £27 per year,  if bought online. You get a third off whatever the fare is, be it advance or on the day. If you go regularly on the train to away games, you'll save a fortune over the season.

Leeds would have taken more.

I suspect the bigger issue is that the Villa have no actual control over when other clubs issue tickets.  They're not on sale to home fans either so I'm not sure what anyone expects the Villa to do.

Dunno if mentioned before but the club were going to subsidise tickets for this game but after a meeting with fan groups the £5 subsidy has been switched to the Norwich game as it's a crap journey and a midweek game.

And QPR is expected to be £39 and £34.
