It's amazing how some players have such bad luck in always finding managers and coaches who have it in for them.

I seem to recall Graham Fenton suffered such circumstances, and still holds a massive grudge about it.

Isn't there a quotation to the effect of "If you only ever meet arseholes, sooner or later you realise you're the arsehole"?

He always looked promising and I hoped he might turn into the next Andy Townsend, but when he left I heard a story that he thought he'd alrady made it and should be a first team regular. Fair play to him for how he's turned out though.

Never good enough.  I actually worked with him when he began his law career in Liverpool and he had a chip on his  shoulders thinking  he was a better player than he was.

He intimated as much in the article when bemoaning his lack of playing time at Everton when Walter Smith took over.

Only game I remember him playing for us was ironically at home to Everton just before he left.

Wonder if it was John Gregory, the coach,  before he left.
Maybe he told him he wasn't good enough and it became an issue.

My only recollection of him comes from an Everton fan I knew 20 years ago.

Allegedly Farrelly took a swig from a water bottle at Kendall's feet during a home game and it was laced with booze.

Just heard an interview with him on Irish radio :

http://www.newstalk.com/podcasts/Off_The_Ball/The_Off_the_Ball_Football_Show/161487/Football_Fixers_Gareth_Farrelly__Englands_Problems

He said the coach in question became assistant manager of Ireland so it must be Kevin McDonald who was assistant to Steve Staunton during his calamitous time in charge of ROI.

Also mentions Brian Little as a v authoritative coach  who ran a strict regime, not something I had heard before. Farrelly comes across as a very self confident and definitely has a bit of a chip on his shoulder as regards his football career. Interesting character though...

I played against him in a Football Aid game at VP a few years ago (we had Lee Hendrie on our side).

He looked fit and still (clearly) decent by the standard of a charity match - though he was an angry man when I nutmegged him and called it, obviously.

He chased after me with the intent to launch me into the North Stand ... so I gave a simple sideways pass just before he had the chance.

Not as chatty or amiable as Lee after the game. Good luck to him now.

Is MacDonald still at the club?
