Sounds like it may take RDM a little longer to close the door on his way out than anticipated/expected (gotta work out how much cash he carries out I suppose). Good article - mind boggling support (all things considered).

How cofused must the new owner be , gives up a record trasfer amount expecting a quick return to the Prem onlyvto find his team being beaten by players that cost peanuts.Aston Villa should come with a warning label, buy at your peril.

The owner has made a mistake that on paper anyone new in the game could make - a suave, well decorated young manager with confidence who comes across very well and has experience in the league, He has just been found wanting. He will go this week and Dr T will try again with a new guy. Its not making mistakes, its learning from them that counts and I have some trust in this ownership to get it right next time.

I still think these players can be good, just need to be coached properly

Spot on.

I am normally in the percentage of fans that voices the opinion that the manager needs time, the players need to Gel.
I'm getting sick of having to saying that with Villa, picking the wrong team and wrong tactics frequently is nothing to do with how much time is needed.

I assume Di Matteo will gone by the end of today and Bruce will be in place, after all it cant get any worse can it.........

Stop press! Dave's last sentence in that piece has indeed transpired.

They've already shown they can be very good, but obviously not nearly on a consistent enough basis. Di Matteo seems to have lost any power he once had to motivate, quite apart from the many tactical mistakes.

You are right Not3 about RDM's inability to motivate but these days there seems to be what I can only call "counter motivation" culture in football squads.  Gabby is a typical example.  Not only does he refuse to be motivated he openly opposes it.  Bringing him back into the team finished Remi Garde.  Then you have players like N'Zogbia who reject the whole concept of earning their massive wages.

You need a manager who, if he cannot get respect from his players, can overwhelm and dominate them.
