With Kodjia, I don't think the lack of goal threat is an issue

It's the all round game and sheer, maddening frustration of seeing him so consistently take the wrong option

But on the flip side you get a player who has his back to goal, 30 yards out against the league leaders, and 5 seconds later, having beaten 5 defenders lays a perfect ball off for Hourihane to curl in the bottom corner.

Yes, he's frustrating at times, but he's also one of the very few players in this division who can genuinely create goals out of nothing.

I think some of the comments about him being greedy really do overplay it. Against QPR for example he cut back in and shot a foot wide when he could've squared it into a congested 6 yard box.

Through retelling you'd think he was 30 yards out and Abraham had an open goal tap in if he'd passed.  I agree with everyone that, with hindsight, the pass was the better option but I also had a moment after he shot of thinking it was going into the bottom corner and thinking it would be a fantastic goal.

Watch the highlights - https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/aston-villa/11596307/aston-villa-2-2-qpr - Is Tammy greedy because he didn't square to Thor in the first chance they show?

All strikers will back themselves with the ball on their stronger foot 10-15 yards from goal, if they didn't they don't have the killer instinct to be a 20 goal a season striker and sometimes it means they'll waste a chance that could've been better for someone else.

Really? Ayew hasn't really delivered - for us or anyone in England.

In my view Kodjia is streets ahead of Jordan Ayew. I'm still not sure what Ayew's best position was but it certainly wasn't goalscorer.

Absolutely.  That Jordan Ayew comment is about as close to the mark as a Yannick Bolasie shot!

Kodjia is far better. Ayews best position is playing for someone else.

Ayew flatters to deceive. Lots of ability, no product.

I'm surprised everybody thinks Kodjia is much better than Ayew. He's probably faster and his attitude is considerably better, but I thought Ayew was a far more talented footballer.

Not that I don't think Kodjia is a decent player at this level. I'd be disappointed if we lost him.

I really had high hopes for Ayew in this league as he has a lot of talent, but he was perhaps the one I was most disappointed with.
