In the system we want to play - with McGinn and Grealish providing through balls - we need a striker with pace who makes runs.  Kodjia doesn't do that, so he needs dropping.  Hepburn-Murphy would be a much better fit.

and a certain Scot Hogan.
Pace?

He has an effective burst of pace over short distances. Not a lot of use if you pumping long balls up him.

On the general question of pace, I remember a TV interview a few years ago with Alan Hutton which suggested that he was the fastest player at the club over 100 yards according to whatever metrics they we were using at the time, and he laughed it off saying "Nah, that's Gabby".
I have not seen him run past any one ever, get to the ball quicker than any one else or display any evidence whatsoever that he has pace.
He is  a £12 million waste of space, not his fault but he has now added being injured to his repertoire, what the Fuck was Bruce thinking when he agreed that fee.
A real mystery. 8)

From the highlights I thought he actually looked more involved than at hull

Could have had a hat trick but for some poor finishing and a bit of bad luck - and one thing we know he can do is finish so that should come

Same here, thought he was crap watching the game but the highlights showed a very different story

Strikers are all about form and confidence. If he can string together a few games without getting injured, he can probably start firing again. Still looks like there's a good player in there, to me.

Someone on here once described Hogan as "like watching Tyrian Lanister running into battle" bang on that. Still makes me chuckle.

Bruce was very complementary towards JK after the match at Ipswich . Saying he's getting sharper and pleased he got the goal.

Was great Jimmy scored and hope he can find the net with a lot more regularity. Took his header well

He does need further support though which hope comes and given the decent service .

I said a week or so back that we just needed to give him a run of games and once he got one he'd be better for it, today he's been a lot better than we were seeing, this is a 20+ a season striker now.

I can forgive lack of form and confidence, however Kodjia’s body language is atrocious. He looks lazy and disinterested much of the time and doesn’t even break into a jog when he could be pressing.
