How much notice do they gibe these days? I'm trying to arrange something for the weekend of the Toon match but fear it could be moved to the Sunday...

It's definitely on the Saturday. Been pushed back to 17:30 though for Sky Sports: http://www.skysports.com/aston-villa-fixtures

I was hoping that it would be moved to the Sunday (got better things to do on the Saturday) but its definitely 17:30 on the Sat

Sat 20th August   Derby (Away)   17:30

Sun 11th Sept   Nott Forest (home) 13:15
Sat 24th Sept   Newcastle (home)   17:30

Sat 15th Oct   Wolves (home)           17:30
Sun 30th Oct   Birmingham (Away)   12:00

Fri 18th Nov   Brighton (Away)   19:45

Leeds away moved to 5.30 Sat, Leeds home brought forward to Thursday night Dec 29, and QPR away now on Sunday. Norwich away on Sky also but no change.

I will be up and Alp and will miss both Burton and Leeds at home. Two games that I was looking forward to before the fixture dates were announced

My initial reaction was irritation. Then I booked a return journey to Leeds on the MegaBus for £6.50. Fixture changes are normally a pain in the arse but the occasional "Bank Error in your favour" moment is rewarding.
