MON's only legacy is that ridiculous song our fans sing to the manager to "give us a wave". Fcuk me, it's embarrassing.

The first "give us a wave" song I can remember was sung to SGT. As for MON the timing was unfortunate but he can't be blamed for the poor managerial appointments and player signings in the last six years that have got us relegated. Although I do suspect Randy Lerner felt let down by him and that maybe started his disenchantment with Villa and football in general.

I think our problems and worries go much deeper and started prior to MON.
I blame Jack Hughes and his mates.

yes I agree with andy lochhead in the air that the problems go much deeper than MON. The groundhog day goes back to Saunders though its unfair to blame the manager. Relations between manager and owner or chair are fragile at best and keep breaking down, right back to Saunders and his walk out. Which was not something that has ever been explained, and the argument was with the now forgotten Ron Bendall. Then Doug Ellis came back and the managerial roundabout started again.

The current owner is much more hands on than Lerner was, so Roberto must be aware that he has less elbow room than O'Neill. If there is a lesson from O'Neill walking out and its still not fully explained - like Saunders walking out - it is that what happens in the boardroom is the key to what a club does, and the media hardly ever report what is going on
