I've no idea whatsoever. Maybe Newcastle will go up. That's about it.

It could be Rotherham or anywhere, not Liverpool or Roma. But Huddersfield is anywhere, anywhere alone.

the top six will contain Aston Villa if the good Doctor starts to get his wallet out. Otherwise, here comes the new boss, same as the old boss.

With our current lot, something like this is the most realistic for me.

4 Sheff Wed
5 derby
6 QPR

11 Villa - unless major changes happen in the next 4 - 5 weeks, if they do, ythen we may threaten a play off position.

Tend to agree with this. Would be funny though if they don't finish top 2 and they bottle it in the pay offs. They finish 3rd we finish 6th and then beat them!

In reality I'm just hoping for top half well clear of the unwashed from Small Heath.

I think Newcastle will walk it, with Derby or Brighton taking the other automatic promotion place. Like others have said, unless we get some quality in before 1st September, I think we'll struggle to get anywhere near the play-offs. With more or less the same squad we finished with 17 points less than the next relegated team, and 23 points short of staying up last season, and I haven't seen a great deal change in pre-season to suggest any improvement . As I've said elsewhere, I think this will be a season of stopping the rot and consolidating before pressing on next season. I'd be ecstatic if we got straight back up but I'm not holding my breath

What's so great about Norwich and Derby? Only Newcastle have a better squad than Villa as it stands (yes I know Norwich finished above us last year).

We have new management now, better coaches and an owner that appears to give a shit. We will be signing a striker and an attacking midfielder before the end of the month, and probably a defensive midfielder and centre back to replace Gana and Clark.

This league is not even close to the standard of the Premier league and our poor performers will look above average in it. The standout teams last season were the likes of Burnley, Boro and Hull. Even Villa were better than Burnley and Hull when they got relegated, yet they both went straight back up despite losing players.

Villa are right at the top end of the league regards net spend, we have got rid of poor players with terrible attitude like are NZogbia, Guzan, Richardson. We are offloading mediocre dross like Clark, Sanchez, Gana and Gil - and getting decent money for them. We are getting in fresh faces with better attitude like Elphick.

I don't get all the negativity.

Blues finished top half last year, and even at our worst we were far too good for them. There i no way we will not finish top 6, and I suspect we will give Newcastle serious competition for the title.
