Away ticket prices
« on: July 15, 2016, 11:56:08 AM »
So... SWFC are charging £42 for away fans at the season opener......   so much for the Twenties plenty campaign and making visiting supporters pay a fair amount.

We will be every clubs cup final this season, so do we anticipate every club jacking up their prices when we come to town?

It could be possible that we pay more for championship away fixtures than we did for premiership games....  I hope not.

I like to save a few quid as much as anyone else, but why should away fans be charged less than home fans ?

Because they have to pay more in travel. If every team abides by the same rules then Wednesday would benefit when they play away matches.

I might be wrong but I don't think the prices will be too bad overall. I reckon it'll be clubs like Sheff Wednesday, Norwich and Leeds who will take the piss a bit.

Small Heath and QPR will take the piss. Possibly Wolves too.

Forgot about Blues and QPR. Not sure Wolves will for some reason.

Has conman launched an investigation? Or does he just specialise in ticket numbers?

If you're watching the same event, why should it matter how much it has cost you to travel?

For the Bristol City game, should I pay more for my ticket than someone who's traveled from Birmingham ?

Please note, I'm not arguing against reciprocal pricing agreements (especially if they save me some money), I'm just trying to understand why its felt that away fans should pay less than home fans to watch the same game

Why should we pay more simply because we're better than some of the other dross in the league? I hate category pricing.

The quality of football doesn't not correlate to the number of pounds the fans have in their pockets.

You can't have pricing worked out on mileage, it would be far too complicated and would, in any case, benefit glory-hunting bellends.

What you can do is assume that away fans, generally, will have spent more to attend a game than home supporters. Given that half the time you need to be a season ticket holder to get to away games, reducing away prices is also a good loyalty bonus for some of the most dedicated fans.

I'd like to see a cap on home prices but, realistically, it won't happen. Still the cap on away tickets in the Premier League is a good thing and it is disappointing that the Football League hasn't followed suit, effectively forcing fans to pay more for an inferior product.

Huddersfield will be cheap, I expect. Not sure about Rotherham as they only have a diddy ground.

£27 to £34 for Leeds fans at QPR first game (upper & lower tiers).

As to whether away fans should be charged less than home fans, I don't think they should. It's only fair that it's the same price as the corresponding position in the ground that home fans pay - the problem is that it's ALL too expensive.

We're going to be in the Category A band at most grounds, so will get hit like Liverpool, Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Chelsea fans have for years in the Prem - at all places including Villa Park.  Sheff Wed seem to have half a dozen categories and although there's only £3 difference to us as Cat A and those in Cat B - it's £22 difference to the lowest category. It is unfair, but our club has for a long time been guilty of this too.

That's not too bad. I'm sure I paid £46 for a "Gold" ticket at Loftus Road the other season.
