Huddersfield up with a -2 goal difference and not winning any of the play off games.

Has not winning any of the play off games and getting promoted ever happened before?

Don't know but you could say they didn't score a goal in them either. The only goal they got was an own goal.

It's an incredible achievement whichever way you look at it. Proof positive as if it was ever needed that a decent coach and a fantastic work ethic and team spirit can get you a long way in this league.

Crikey what's with all this bitterness towards Huddersfield, if we had gone up today through the play-offs in exactly the same circumstances we would all be creaming ourselves and be delighted.  Some plonker journo on Radio 5 live has just said that David Wagner may not even be at the club next season as " surely teams like Aston Villa will be looking at him".

Why the fuck would David Wagner leave Huddersfield to come to us, there is no guarantee that he would be able to get us up, with big clubs come big resources and a temptation to spend them on so called big players. That's been our biggest problem recently none of our managers have been able to put the correct blend of playing resource together.  Can you imagine the reaction of fans on here if we had appointed David Wagner and he had delivered us that Huddersfield team.  None of us would have been satisfied. Leave David to have his glory season in the Premier League with Huddersfield.

Which is the exact opposite of what we have. Bring on next season....

Good on Joe Lolley. Injured at the moment, but from a Villa internet forum regular to a Premier League footballer.

When he was at Kidderminster three years ago he probably wouldn't have seen that on the horizon.

Why the fuck would David Wagner leave Huddersfield to come to us,
A thousand reasons ...well actually about 30000 reasons. Why wouldn't he? Yes he could do a Eddie Howe and keep Huddersfield in the Premier League for a couple of seasons but that's  his maximum with them whereas  at Villa backed by Dr Xia and 30K plus, may be 40K, cheering him on he could compete seriously in the  top division.  Furthermore it's likely that Huddersfield will struggle next season and that will destroy his stock.

There's no way he's turning down his first go at the PL even if his team is predicted for immediate relegation. Ideally if he does do a good job, we get promoted and stabilize, he's the kind of manager or Howe (if he's still at Bournemouth) to then replace Bruce for us to push on.

No, as long as they don't do completely horribly, people will get that it's a massive, massive ask for a manager to keep them up. Just look at Marco Silva, Hull got relegated but he's got himself the Watford job. If Wagner puts up any sort of decent fight with that team, there'll be clubs actually in the Premier League who would be willing to take that punt, even fi they aren't necessarily bigger than Villa - for instance, a team like Stoke.

I know this is a forum where everyone has opinions, but Bruce isn't going to get sacked from his job at Villa so why is Wagner being appointed even open for debate?

Keep Huddersfield up and he could have Dortmund after him.
