Restructure and redundancies
« on: April 11, 2016, 07:22:38 PM »

Looks like the staff have been informed:

Aston Villa Football Club can confirm it has updated all staff on the proposed changes to the Club structure in order to put it back on a firm footing.
These changes will result in a headcount reduction but every effort will be made through a voluntary scheme, to mitigate as much as is possible, the need for compulsory redundancies.
The objective is to secure a sound financial platform from which the Club can rebuild for the benefit of the fans, staff and sponsors.
We recognise this is an extremely difficult time for all staff and the Club will offer support to all staff affected.

Maybe the £80k on the new badge should have been better spent

Having just been made redundant myself ( not the Villa), my best wishes to those affected and I hope you find a new job soon.

Are they allowed to make several of the playing staff redundant??

Oh no sorry I forgot the whole squad has been redundant since last August, only the club hasn't noticed and continued to pay their wages.

Getting relegated is one thing, but to do so giving the impression that you don't give a shit is unforgivable. I wonder if any of our players feel any guilt this evening?

I'd like to bet they don't.

They started the badge stuff in the summer.

Every player should forfeit a weeks wage to contribute for the severance pay out.

Echo that.

I'm going to join in the booing of certain players.

Shameful really, but it's been coming for years and now finally the reality is hitting those who don't deserve it the hardest.

Whilst I understand that we have to shape the size of the whole club to reflect revenue streams next season, how much money can we be talking about saving by hacking away at the back office staff. Let's assume 50 people go earning £20k each then that's £1m. A sizeable chunk?, not if we make a mistake in player recruitment in the summer and spunk that on a fee for a middling player who doesn't get picked.
Would never want people to lose their jobs in this situation, are we suggesting the scale of demand at Villa will drop significantly? I would say it won't and Villa will still have to service 30k on average (and for 4 more games). If the back office function was broken and needed restructuring fair enough but this would suggest piddling savings in a Cameron-esque race to the bottom

Are we talking about the Villa or the government?

Hmmm, scarily similar. Clueless leader who inherited all from Daddy and makes decisions on the whim that baffle all but his inner circle

Just think what we've spent on dispensing with the hopeless Sherwood and Garde this season.
