Did he really say he's offered £20 million for players but Randy has turned him down?

Tom Fox said something like that at the Ramsay grave re-dedication - Doug had offered money if it would help, but knowing Doug it was nowhere near the amount he claimed.

And it was also at 250% interest rate.

Good old Doug

I second that - still has the best interest of the team at heart.

Accoring to the Beeb article on it this morning he "left £20million in for Transfers" presumably after the sale, in his own head.  Bless him.

A Prized P***k.....Hawked himself round the midlands back in his day to see what prey was lying idle....and The Villa got savaged.

I wouldn't wish ill health on him , but he sound as though his about to appear on the deathwatch thread .

He hasn't looked well for a wee while now (from what I've seen of him). It'll possibly be a case of taking the L & Y out of Deadly Doug in the not-too-distant'...

I'm sure Doug would admit to a few mistakes - but it's worth remembering we had some good times after 1987 - Twice runners up, two League Cup wins and several cracking nights at VP - eg two against Inter Milan etc..

Reminds me of that episode of "Are You Being Served?" when young Mr Grace offers to throw half a crown into the pot for something

Nice to see Doug donating £100,000 to the QE Neurosurgical Unit following surgery on Steve Stride's son this year.

The players concerned probably didn't know how to mow his lawn and trim his hedges.

There's no better indicator of the sale to Xia going through than Doug suddenly appearing in the media.
