Pauline Field (My Mom)
« on: March 25, 2016, 08:37:44 AM »
A lot of H & V ers will remember my post about my brave and beautiful Mom after last years semi final against Liverpool.

The semi final was the day before she was due to start her Chemotherapy - after being diagnosed in early 2015. I managed to get her a ticket at the very last minute off a very good friend of mine - and she had a wonderful day, enjoying every second ( as we all did).

She didn't go to many games - but she was a Perry Barr girl so was always Claret and Blue - and let me and my Dad go to every game , which is the same commitment, in a way. However, one claim to fame is she never saw us lose at Wembley (we got her a ticket in 94, 96 and for last years semi final - but couldn't get her a ticket for 2000 or 2015 cup finals)

Unfortunately, she passed away last Sunday 20th March 2016 - but in between last years semi final and last sunday, she was so, so brave - and I will always be so incredibly proud of her.

Her second bout of chemo led to her having a stroke in May last year - but typical of My Mom , she battled back to recover enough to come on our family holiday to Lanzarote last July. 10 of us had two weeks in the sunshine to celebrate my Mom and Dads golden wedding anniversary.

The cancer came back late last year and we were told she was terminally ill just a few short weeks ago. We did as much as we could to make her last days enjoyable, however, she passed away on Sunday.

There have been a lot of tears but still a few smiles this week . One day there will be a lot of smiles - but there will always be a few tears.

God bless Mom - thanks for everything - rest well x

(I had some Mellberg pins made last year - and a £1 of each was going to Cancer research UK. I paid £100 to Cancer Research last year . There are still a few left on Ebay. If anyone buys one now- ALL proceeds will be paid to Cancer Research UK)

Yes sorry to mate
If the current squad had an ounce of the grit strength and determination she had we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now

Thoughts are with you Fin Fed
As you say letting others attend is a commitment as well. My Mom has never seen the Villa play but enabled my late brother and Father to go.
I would love to go to a match with my Mom and this has spurred me on to arrange it.

My condolences to you and your family. I bought a couple of the Mellberg pins last year, but will definitely get another couple for family members.
