The Fishing Thread
« on: March 14, 2016, 09:40:51 AM »
I have been Fly Fishing just over a year now, and really getting into the whole sport, trying a few flies and catching on my own fly for the first time on Saturday.

I know Legion has had a few of the fish I have caught, and enjoyed them.

Is anyone else on here into fly fishing?

My weekly regular is Ellerdine Lakes in Shropshire  - really top class fish in there and a superb set up.

I'm fishing the Troutmasters competition 'fish off' there on Saturday

Barbel and Tench for me. Just got back from a brief end of season session on the Severn, needless to say I blanked.

Mostly on holidays, I spin and saltwater fly fish, done some game fishing in US for Tuna in the past, too 'kin expensive these days.  Fished for Tarpon in Islamorada, Florida a few times as well.

Fishing again tonight after work. Got the bug back for it big time.

Had a day fishing at Alvechurch last week. Had 200lb of Carp, Barbel and Bream.

Fishing cubes of luncheon meat and bacon grill, whilst feeding out pellets and some corn.

Yeah I do that after a heavy night on the pop followed by a curry.

I am reliably informed that pineapple chunks are getting big carp at Rowheath.

My idea of heaven, whipping barbel out of the Severn at Quatford on a piece of luncheon meat bigger than a tennis ball - fantastic part of the world. Although I'm just as happy catching perch in 40 feet deep water in the Millwall Docks. Robbo 1874 caught a seagull there once, funniest thing I've ever seen. He doesn't go fishing, he goes worm drowning.

I've never fished a match, but started to go fishing last year and I've really got the bug for it again.

Decided to take the missus with me, thought that if she likes it then she can come with me. Less chance of a divorce filed for going awol fishing every weekend :)

Fish at Alvechurch Fisheries a lot, love the place. Horseshoe lake there is worth a go. Lots of Carp, I've had a 13lb best from there.

Always fished the rod with a waggler, but got myself a 11m pole, and I've done well with it.

Been fishing 4mm pellets lately. Really does separate the bigger fish from the smaller ones
