It's not just away tickets that are too expensive and the cynic in me thinks the shortfall will be made up by an increase in home ticket prices.

Hopefully the Championship will follow suit, although most away games Leeds fans go to are around £30, and they're in the category A band we'll find ourselves in. They were charged £24 at Cardiff last night and £27 for Blackburn this Saturday, but £32 for the Monday night trip to Brighton last week and £36 at Sheff Wed. Elland Road itself though is very expensive and away fans have been moved to the dearest stand the last few seasons.

Arsenal will charge away fans £26

Tbf going there last few years it's only actually been about 30 quid hasn't it? Obviously they fleece other London clubs but it's always been one of the better value aways I think.

They're charging their own fans who go to away games £26, by offering a £4 discount per fan. They're not giving seats to away fans at their ground tickets for £26.

They've always been one of the more reasonably priced London away games, relatively speaking

They can afford it with the money they charge their own.

You do get the feeling that home fans might be subsidising this initiative

Which is my "cause animosity" worry.

Fans who sit in the same area as away fans will get charged the same price so reductions for them aswell.

For example Villa fans who sit in the Lower and Upper Witton I think get charged 39 and 42 quid which is what we charge away fans so if we by a miracle stayed up that would be a pretty hefty reduction for next season.

Oh dear. We wont be in the premier league next year so why make a statement about something that will not affect us?

{i know they can't be defeatist on the OS!)

Of course the further, almost inevitable, slap in the face will be next season when Championship clubs rub their hands at the prospect of a bumper pay day and charge well in excess of £30 when the Villa roll into town.

I wonder how much our attendance home and away will go down next season? Anyone care to speculate who has relevant comparisons with other clubs in recent times or even us back in the day?

Away support won't change much I reckon, new grounds for many and novelty factor. At home will depend on prices and mainly how we're doing. If we're near the top we'll average low 30s probably.

Given that Premier League grounds rarely have more than 3,000 away seats and the Championship has more empty spaces than you can count, we could end up next season as the best-supported away team in the country.

Apart from for Leeds. No one has away support as good as Leeds. According to them.
