Typical. I persuade her to watch the county game again because she likes Joe Root (though becoming increasingly fed up with that wretched dachshund), and he's gone first ball to Ball, bowling well.

Please tell her not to watch him in the second innings.

Ever the optimist, think it will be a draw, unless we can shift Read and Patel early!

Read, Patel and Broad have rescued Notts. A draw looks the likely result now. Notts are 327-8, which is a lead of 298.

I assume that the sunshine has saved Notts. I watch some of the Sky coverage yesterday afternoon. The ball was looping around and a few kept very low. Today the sun is out and batting is easier.

Yorkshire have gone for it, they're go to fall short but it's frustrating that Broad was able to bowl so wide of off stump to Bairstow otherwise we'd be a lot closer.

Notts look like winning this but fair play to Gale for going for it. Still annoyed Broad was allowed to bowl so wide though!

Whatever happens it's been a great advert for County cricket, especially when the top players are involved.

What isn't a great advert for the county game is 7 draws out of 8 games in this round.  That makes it difficult to support matches being played at this time of year.  I don't know how much time was lost to rain/clouds but it's far from ideal.

EDIT

Just checked, 6 results from the 27 matches played so far across the 2 divisions, that's really not great.

And you'd do what about the rain and snow?
