Sounds like we are of the same era ronshirt, though I used to do the reverse. Start off up the back the Holte end up at the Witton.
I lived in Northfied, and the total cost of a game was 5 shillings, which is 25p. This included 10 cigarettes. 1 shilling and 6 pence (7.5p) was the Junior Entrance.
I always liked Lionel Martin, but he was not that popular up the back of the Holte. A most vivid memory was when we drew Sperms at home in a cup game. Martin scored a fabulous header but they all thought it was Alan Deakin and were chanting his name.
Sperms had a star studded team that included Greaves and Gilzean and ran out 4-1 winners. Sperms had half of the Holte as well but only because the coppers were protecting them.
A sign of the times, when we got off the bus in Northfield at The Bell, there were Blose fans waiting and there was an altercation with fisticuffs.
Strange days indeed.
