nostalgia
« on: November 06, 2015, 07:29:24 PM »
everybody seems to be going into nostalgia overload today
is this a sign of a dawning of a new era
I hope my son one day gets the same feelings I do when you rewind 40 years
were leaving it late for him , hes almost 20 , but I do hope one day he can rewind
to gardes glory years
I live in cloud cuckoo land by the way

It was better in the olden days cos we used to win occasionally.

It'll be better soon as we'll be able to win occasionally.

My daughter who insists on coming to games with me has never seen a successful Villa side...I fear it may put her off if we did become successful as it would be an alien concept to her. Mind it would be a bloody shock to me.

Everybody has a clean slate, if he knuckles down then he has a chance of a recall I suppose.

I have found that growing a beard helps keep the  facial pain of nostalgia away.

i like to look back in nostalgis with rose tinted glasses ,,,,,things were so much better in the old days with the coal man coming down the bath with a big sack of coal on his back ,, and getting on the 11 bus going to school and the smoke being that thick from smokers i could barely see anything, and then i remember robbing the pop bottles at the back of the newsagents and then taking them in the shop to get the deposit again and i remember the bazooka joe chewing gum machines when every 4th turn you would get an extra one , and like many on here i started going down the villa in the 3rd div and look back on those division 3 days  as great days ,now the thought of getting relegated from the premier league to the old divsion 2 gives me sleepless nights. talking of nostalgia ,,,,,does anyone remember the red IMI sign that you could see from the back of the holte

I remember the best era for the club: 1975 to 1982. Especially the 76-77 team which was probably the most exciting ever - remember Liverpool visiting on the night of 15th December 1976?

Who remembers clackers? They were an old-time playground favourite. There was always a Norman wasn't there?

Do you remember the Aztec bar?

But would this glorious era really been quite so, er glorious, without the fall from grace in the late sixties/early seventies? Would the Taylor regime have quite such a rose tint without the Turner/MacNeill relegation?

I think my point is that we're due a revival, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll win again some sunny day!

There was always one lad at school who had a really powerful magnet.

2 league cups
1 league championship
1 European Cup
1 European Supercup
In 7 years.

Most clubs would sell their souls for that, and that's before you add in some of the best attacking football you could ever wish to see and the feeling that matches like the FA Cup QF v West Ham were genuine missed opportunities.
