Good point about the betting markets. When more than one bookmaker is offering odds of 10/1 against us beating a team which has been misfiring on all fronts, current champions or not, then it is clear that we are perceived as a basket case.

The bit about Stoke and Palace makes me sick to my stomach. Doesn't make it any less true though. Unfortunately, we have to be envious of their current stability.

Thanks Randy.

Yes rotten to the core. Whilst Sherwood is a symptom of the underlying problem it is high time the way the club is run came under close scrutiny.

Exactly. Bomb squad to moneyball, it appears to me that our managers get plenty of suggestions on how to do their job.

Whilst I agree in theory to buying promising players and flogging them at a huge profit. Id like the manager to be making the call. Or at least somebody the manager has placed his trust in.

That said, Sherwood's position is untenable, time to go.
As ugly as it could get (although unlikely due to compensation) I hope Sherwood stays true to form and spills the beans on life at Villa Park.

Another good read Dave.

What's so soul destroying is how predictably shite we've become.  There was never any doubt that Chelsea would win on Saturday and that they'd not have to work too hard or play particularly well for it either.  This could've been written on Friday evening quite honestly.

This is a club that has totally lost it's pride and it's purpose. Of everything that can be levelled over the last 5 years this makes me saddest of all for the Villa.  Thanks Randy.

Predictable doesn't even begin to do it justice.

From the point of view of writing an article, it's a good job that there's so much wrong, because otherwise I reckon Dave could just do a cut and paste job from week to week, or at least have them on a 3 or 4 week cycle.

What's the old saying, the more things change, the more they stay the same?
It looks like a I can revive my "favourite" bet from last season.  Aston Villa 0. >:(

I thought on Saturday we played a little better in all honesty and felt slightly more optimistic.

I'm not having TS saying that we 'sold' Benteke. He wanted to leave as did The Snake and Cleverley. Even though we regularly lose our better players these days not one of them have been 'sold'. They've all wanted to leave and we received the appropriate compensation for em.

If a player leaves and we receive compensation for him that means he's been sold. Why make out its something different?

Its all semantics but I read it that TS by saying we "sold Benteke" is suggesting the Club could've kept the players but instead decided to sell. Like he'd have stayed. Well maybe if we'd not embarrassed ourselves at Wembley he might of.

Same with Delph and Cleverley.  Wasn't he the one to publicly spill the beans on Benteke's release clause figure (although I'm sure Tekkers agent was telling the world too), Delph h Club got shafted and Cleverley wasn't even ours anyway.

The only one Sherwood could have been remotely surprised about was Cleverley, who according to a lot of  people was beyond shit for the most of his stay.
With the release clauses Benteke and Ratus Ratus had, they were almost certain to go and if he didn't know it when he joined, he sure as hell would have quickly found out.  And as for his line about he wouldn't have allowed the release clauses, well thank god he wasn't negotiating the contracts because then we'd have probably lost Benteke for a comparative pittance and Delph on free when the refused to sign their contract extensions.

And I'm convinced that Guaye was signed as Delph's replacement before he did his "will he won't he?" bollocks

Although he did openly say at the start of pre-season that he thought Benteke was going to stay.
