If it's adebayor or bust - yay or nay?
« on: September 01, 2015, 06:47:27 AM »
It may or may not be that ade is the only option. But I suspect it is. Can't see Chelsea letting remy go and don't think we will stump up the cash for Austin

So adebayor - yay or nay?

I was in the yay camp but I think his attitude has been shown up to be as awful as the rumours

A reluctant yay. Our need for a goalscorer trumps my many negative feelings about Adebayor.

We're in need of a goal scorer.  Sinclair can't continue his current form in this regard all the way through.  On loan would be ok.

On loan, no fee, slightly subsidised wages if we can swing it. If that's available, might as well take a punt. Certainly he would've done better with a couple of the chances Gestede had I'd daresay.

Yes, but only on loan.

very reluctantly yes on loan but I have real reservations about this ; why persist in trying to sign someone who obviously doesn't really want to be here? A player under duress isn't ideal, particularly when it's Adebayor. I think this is the one facet of our summer dealings we've got wrong - why invest in Ayew and Gestede if all we were ever going to do was to get this guy in on loan? And I realise it hasn't happened yet!

Shouldn't ever sign a player who doesn't really want to come

If that is the case

Yes. Sherwood and he are clearly mates, he has performed for him before and is perfect fit the way we are trying to play. 2 seasons of Adebayor at half page would be better than having to sit through some of the other options.

Seem to recall everyone saying Amavi didn't want to sign and he's been, mostly, excellent so far.

Off levels ie same chances, same support players, same spread of opposition quality, same rub of the green I would back Libor Kozak to outscore Adebayor over a season all day long. Libor looks up for it, Adebayor quite the opposite. I think there is the big banana skin of sentiment looming under Sherwood's foot just like N'Zogbia did for TSM1.

That's where I am despite the many good points made here by posters about the disadvantages. I fear a real struggle if we don't get a proven goal scorer in. The Sunderland game will just be replayed over and over - we will dominate the teams around us with our creative play (never thought I'd say that again!) but fail to put the ball in the net whilst they wander up the other end and score from the one or two chances they get.

He held talks with West Ham last night according to SSN

He doesn't want to come chaps, it's a no brainer, you don't bring in players that don't want to be here

If it's a choice between Adebayor or Berbatov then it has to be Adebayor.

I'd like to think we'd be in for Austin given some of the Mickey Mouse clubs being linked with a bid for him.
