M6 spaghetti junction closed both ways till late afternoon (at the earliest) apparently !!

http://www.highways.gov.uk/news/breaking-news#1

Quote
M6 | West Midlands | Both Directions | Serious Incident | Road Closed

The M6 is closed in both directions between junctions J6 (A38M) and J7 (A34/Great Barr) in Birmingham due to a serious accident. Emergency services are in attendance and the road is expected to be closed for some considerable time.

Diversion routes are in operation with southbound traffic leaving at J7, following the Hollow Diamond symbol, taking the A34 southbound to the A4540 Newtown Middleway, then heading eastbound to access the A38M northbound at Dartmouth Circus which re-joins the M6 at J6. Northbound traffic is to follows the above route in reverse leaving at J6 and following the Hollow Square symbol. For customers wider afield, strategic diversions are in place using other routes.

Customers are advised to expect delays in the area and to consider alternative routes or delaying their journey.

Shouldn't affect Yanited fans as they'll be clogging up the M1 , M5 and M40 northbound carriageways

Thanks for that Luke95. I normally use Frixo to check for delays and there's nothing about it on there, so won't be using that again.

I know it'll cause inconvenience for all concerned but a part of me is thinking good - now they'll see what chaos Friday night  kick-offs will cause.

Quite. You can bet that it will be a late kick-off too. Full House and the M6 shut.... I feel sorry for those of you that are attempting it.

They'll see what chaos it causes but will they reconsider future Friday night games?  Not a chance of that happening.

Sky could not give one monkey about what is happening on the roads.  In fact as far as they are concerned the more people who stop at home and watch it on TV the better they like it.

They don't. They like full grounds to add to "the brand".
