Happy with this, good reputation and fills an obvious gap, we've been badly under-coached for years so it's nice to have a manager who wants to focus on coaching and CEO who will back him up.

I don't like the guy at all, but as long as he keeps a low profile, I'm not too bothered.

He was definitely very well respected as a Coach at Chelsea from what I have read.  Great appointment.

Quite a surprise, welcome and good luck.
How long into his first interview will he refer to the players as "these young men"?

I would've thought that the last thing we need is someone to tell the players to past it sidyways even more than they do now!

But, seriously, ladeezungenelmen, I think it is a decent appointment.

Great stuff. IIRC, his stint at Chelsea as assistant manager under Ancelotti coincided with them playing some absolutely blinding football.

Yes. We already know how to pass the ball sideways and back. In fact, we're pretty adept at it.

Only joking, I'm sure he'll add something to the squad it terms of knowing who on the pitch is doing the job they're supposed to be doing.

Thumbs up from me - I have always really liked him and that is quite something coming from me given his Chelsea connections

With Man U, Rangers and Millwall also on his CV, that's quite a collection of objectionable former employers he has. I wonder if anybody can boast more?

That Tango ad with the Felix soundtrack was great - I preferred it to the "slap" advert.

That was a great advert. I've just looked it up on Wikipedia and it only aired ten times.

That's actually a very good question, I wonder if anyone has played for all four of Man U, Leeds, Blues and Coventry. They would probably have developed horns.

Great appointment by the way, and I almost posted the Wilkins has got no hair chant myself. I remember him taking it in good humour though.

Well respected and he may well work on Sanchez's premiership game. Could be an inspired move.

I remember him as The Crab, too.

I'd not seen a picture of him for a long time and was struck by the fact that in this picture:

he seems to have morphed into Mohamed Al Fayed since the last time I saw him.
