Didn't he used to do the voice overs for those adds, where the orange Tango man would slap people.

one of his many talents

Could be a decent appointment, I hope he gets some decent midfielders to work with.

Shrewd appointment by Tim Sherwood.  I felt the coaching team was lacking a bit of top flight coaching experience and tactical nous, so this is a welcome appointment.

Thumbs up from me - I have always really liked him and that is quite something coming from me given his Chelsea connections

Wilkins is supposed to be a very good coach.

I actually thought Kevin Mac had been brought in as Sherwood's number two?

In the interview he did mention K Mac and just said that he would be working alongside him. They can fight it out.

Will also raise our profile amongst the London-obsessed media

So who is our coaching staff now?

Wilkins, KMac, Sid?, Tony Parks?

FWIW I definitely think this is a good appointment. Loads of experience, said to be an excellent coach, a calm head and what not. He's the diametric opposite to Roy Keane.

And, one might say, Tim

With Man U, Rangers and Millwall also on his CV, that's quite a collection of objectionable former employers he has. I wonder if anybody can boast more?

That Tango ad with the Felix soundtrack was great - I preferred it to the "slap" advert.

That was a great advert. I've just looked it up on Wikipedia and it only aired ten times.

I thought there might be another coach come in this summer, because I think Tim wanted Ramsey. By missing out on Ramsey, I think we have ended up with a better option for us. Good experience handling big players, Chelsea lot loved him as a coach, will no doubt keep Tim on the ground a bit which he needs, and should work well with KMac. Can't see a negative to it. We finally have a decent robust looking coaching staff which looked totally haphazard under Mr Lambert.

I remember hearing him do commentary on Spurs at Inter in the CL a couple of years ago in which he sounded pissed, and kept saying "stay on your feet, stay on your feet" all the time.
To himself?

Had to do something similar myself at the semi-final.
Not clever, just saying like.

Excellent signing. Now if we can get some players in, I'll be looking forward to being entertained for a change!
Still all feels a bit weird with the club up for sale, mind. Lends me to think, in my own tiny mind, that news on that front may be in the offing. Not getting my hopes up, like, but Timmy must've got the green light on this from somewhere, it being another on the backroom payroll. Getting Wilkins in doesn't seem the sort of thing to do short-term.

I actually knew him a bit at Rangers as I was on the management team at Turnberry where they used to come and stay before cup finals. He was a really nice guy, always had time to chat to staff, many of whom were obsessive Rangers fans and for whom he made their day. Ally McCoist was another top guy. The less said about Graham Roberts though the better...

ps: seems a pretty good appointment to me - level-headed, experienced, won stuff and not Roy Keane.
